November has come and with them our Succulents Box for this month! Please welcome to your collection: Variegated Elephant Bush, Tiger Jaw, Crassula String of Button and Echeveria Atlantis. Read on to find out more about them and their care instructions.

Variegated Elephant Bush

Variegated Elephant Bush, Portulacaria afra is an interesting succulent. Its leaves are shaped like elephant ears, which give it the cute nickname "Elephant Bush". Variegated Elephant Bush is low maintenance and drought tolerant, so it can be grown easily as a houseplant. The soft wood branches can grow quite long, making this succulent a good trailing plant in hanging planters. The variegated version of Portulacaria Afra is called "Rainbow Bush" thanks to the lovely white and yellow variegation on the leaves.

Light: Full Sun, Partial Sun

Soil: Prefers porous and dry soil

Water: Water thoroughly only when soil is dry to the touch, then let drain completely

Tiger’s Jaw Crassula

Faucaria tigrina, also known as Tiger's Jaw Crassula, is a small succulent clump-forming perennial. The leaves are thick, triangular, and light green. They can turn purple when received plenty of sun exposure. On the margins of the leaves, there are upright soft, white (up to 10) teeth in opposite pairs that look like an animal’s jaw. Tiger's Jaw Crassula produces large silky yellow flowers.

Sun exposure: Full sun

Water: Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch, then let drain completely. Avoid letting water sit for too long in the soil to prevent rot and fungal diseases. Reduce watering in the winter.

Soil: Well-Drained, Porous, Gritty. Optimal pH is around 6.0 (slightly acidic).

Temperature: Average summer temperatures from 65ºF/18ºC to 70ºF/21ºC are ideal. In winter, it can survive temperatures as low as 50ºF/10ºC.

Fertilizer: Feed once with a controlled-release fertilizer at the beginning of the growing season.

Propagation: You can propagate Tiger’s Jaw Crassula by division, offsets or leaf cuttings. The easiest way is to propagate from a single leaf: put the leaf in a succulent or cacti mix, then cover until it sprouts.
