Pachypodium namaquanum is a rare succulent plant. It is an usually single-stemmed, growing extremely slowly with stem up to 10 inches (25 cm) in diameter and up to 8.2 feet (2.5 m) tall.

The stems are cylindrical, mostly unbranched, covered with warty tubercles from which sharp spines protrude in a slightly downward direction.

The leaves form a crowded rosette at the apex of the trunk. They are simple, obovate to oblong, green-grey and densely velvety on both surfaces.

The flowers are tubular, red on the inside and yellow-green outside, up to 2 inches (5 cm) long and up to 0.4 inch (1 cm) across at the mouth. The fruits are horn-like with twin pencil-thin tapering capsules of up to 2 inches (5 cm) long.

Plants may be shipped bare root.

Elephants Trunks thrive in bright light but not harsh direct sun, which can scorch their leaves. Place your plant near a window with sheer curtains or filtering through nearby trees.

Water deeply, then let the soil dry completely before watering again.

Well-draining succulent or cactus mix is essential to prevent root rot. You can also add some perlite or sand to your potting mix for extra drainage.

Warm temperatures are ideal, between 65-80°F (18-27°C). They can tolerate cooler temperatures down to 50°F (10°C) but will go dormant and stop growing.

Fertilize sparingly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a diluted fertilizer for cacti and succulents. Do not fertilize at all during the winter dormancy period.

* Minimalist Pot Options: White/ Oatmeal/ Gray colors are randomly picked

* Grower pot option is plastic pot, the color of the plastic pot will be random (brown, black, white or green)

* We use 3.5 inch wide clay pots for 4" succulent plant + clay pot option.

Your plant will be carefully wrapped in a sturdy box. Most of the succulents will be shipped bare-root to ensure their safety. If you want to receive the plastic pot & soil, please leave a note in your order. When opening your package, some soil may be loose in the box. Plant orders are shipped within 3-5 days depending on the availability of the plant. We ship our plants Monday through Friday, all twelve months of the year! We only ship out beautiful, healthy plants! Please track your package and open it immediately upon arrival. If you receive your package and are not satisfied, please message us immediately. Fragile plants such as bearpaw, baby toe, etc. may break or loose a few of their leaves during transport. Please contact us for replacements if your plants are severely damaged. Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour off any excess water after a few minutes. The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.

This plant is a winter grower, it grows from August to November. Give it water during this growing period, and minimum to no water the rest of the time. Please make sure it has enough sunlight.
