Phalaenopsis orchids, native to the tropical regions of Asia and Australia, are elegant superstars of the houseplant stardom. These popular flowering plants stand apart from other houseplants due to their unique and intricate blooms. The exotic charm of the flowers, resembling delicate moths in flight, has given these plants the name Moth Orchids.
The flower spikes of Phalaenopsis Orchids emerge delicately from joints of green, smooth leaves, carrying multiple flower buds. These buds, with proper care, transform into a mesmerizing display that lasts a month or more. This Purple Phalaenopsis Orchid has a harmonious blend of purple shades. Each bloom has a unique pattern, showcasing the delicate balance between these two captivating colors.
The stems of Phalaenopsis Orchids are a work of art in themselves. These arching stems contribute to the orchid's overall aesthetic, creating a sense of movement and elegance. The stems can emerge from leaf joints, and their shape adds to the orchid's unique and captivating appearance.
Phalaenopsis are "monopodial" orchids, indicating that they grow from a single stem. Unlike sympodial (or branching) orchids with large water-storing pseudobulbs, Phalaenopsis orchids lack these structures and hence need to be watered more regularly.
This listing is for a Purple Phalaenopsis Orchid plant with a single flower spike.
Place your orchid where it can bask in bright, indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight, as it may scorch the delicate petals. Periodically turn your orchid to ensure uniform growth. Adequate lighting will yield light green leaves. Insufficient light leads to dark green leaves, while excessive light can cause a pink or reddish hue along the leaf margins, ultimately turning yellow.
Maintain a comfortable temperature range between 65-75°F during the day and slightly cooler temperatures at night (around 55°F). Avoid sudden changes in temperature, cold drafts, and extreme heat sources.
Water your orchid when the top inch of the potting mix feels dry. Ensure thorough watering, allowing excess water to drain. Avoid waterlogging, as orchids prefer slightly drier conditions between waterings.
Use a well-draining ready-made orchid potting mix. You can also mix your soil using orchid bark, sphagnum moss, perlite, and charcoal to prevent water from accumulating around the roots. Orchids thrive when their roots have access to both air and moisture.
Feed your orchid with a balanced orchid fertilizer during the growing season. Follow the package instructions for dilution and frequency. Reduce fertilization during the dormant period.
Trim spent flowers and yellowing leaves with sterile scissors. Be cautious not to damage the healthy parts of the plant.
While these orchids are not considered toxic, it's essential to exercise caution and prevent ingestion by humans and pets.

Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered
light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do
NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour
off any excess water after a few minutes.
The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot
area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended
periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.
