Cotyledon Tomentosa Bear Paw

Size
  • Cotyledon tomentosa subsp. ladismithiensis, native to South Africa, is also known as Cotyledon Bear Paw or Bear’s Paw. It is a succulent shrublet up to 12 inches (30 cm) tall. It is densely branched and covered with fine tiny white hairs, giving it a velvety look. The leaves are up to 2 inches (5 cm) long, fleshy, yellow-green, sometimes with reddish tips. These leaves usually have from 1 to 3 apical teeth, resembling the "bear claws".

Cotyledon Bear's Paw produces clusters of yellow to orange-red bell-shaped flowers in late spring.

This plant is fragile so it will be shipped bare root carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and recycled newspaper.

Fragile plants such as bearpaw, baby toe, etc. may break or loose a few of their leaves during transport. Please contact us for replacements if your plants are severely damaged. We'll try our best to accommodate you. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grown in, depending on availability or time of year.
  • Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour off any excess water after a few minutes. The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.

Beautiful lil lady.

Shipped from the website almost immediately. Gorgeous plant. She opened right up after a few days. One of the paws has withered and will probably need to be cut. She spent a little longer in shipping than I would have liked, but that's USPS for ya! Overall very satisfied. Would recommend.

Healthy plant.

I’m really happy with my purchase. I ordered the 4 inch. When it arrived, it was well packaged. Although packed as best as possible, several leaves fell off (they really are super delicate). After planting, it is still a very good size and extremely healthy. I’ve never had any luck propagating the bear paw, but I will try with all the fallen leaves. *Fingers crossed*
