One of the benefits of growing succulents is that you can use them as decor without harming them. We all know that succulents are so sturdy, hardy, drought-tolerant, and are capable of adapting to new surroundings, making them able to be replanted or propagated once you want to take down the craft or once the Holiday season is over.

And with our DIY Christmas succulent centerpiece, you can use one of your favorite succulents or whatever you have on hand. You can even use succulents like Echeveria and cacti for this project as they have a rosette shape and subtle coloring, making them suitable for creating different types of crafts.

Moreover, this project would only take about a few minutes to make before you can have your own beautiful DIY table centerpiece to enjoy throughout the season and on Christmas Day!

Christmas Succulent Centerpiece

Step 1:

Prepare your container and fill it with Cactus Mix. Make sure to use a cactus mix as regular potting soil retains too much moisture and is not ideal for succulents because excess water will cause them to rot. And since this container does not contain a drainage hole, it is more necessary to use a cactus mix.

You can also put some pebbles on the bottom before filling the container with Cactus mix to enhance drainage.

Step 2:

Using your hands or a spoon, make some small holes (or pit) in the cactus mix where you want to place your succulents. 

Step 3: 

Place your succulents and make sure to fill in the spaces with Cactus Mix so that they are sitting atop the soil.

Step 4:

Cover the soil with perlite to give your centerpiece a gorgeous Winter-Wonderful look. Plus, doing this is a good way to promote better drainage for your succulents.

Step 5:

Take your Christmas Berries, pinecones, or any decoration you have on hand, and place them on top of the perlite and around the succulents.

And voilà! You now have a beautiful Christmas centerpiece with live plants!

Christmas Succulent Snowman

Here are the basic materials you’ll need:

• A mix of succulent cuttings in different sizes
• Sphagnum moss or preserved green moss
• Bowl filled with Succulent Potting Mix
• Floral tape
• Floral wire
• Scissors / Wire cutters
• Snowman head
• Rope

Now that we all know the supplies needed, let's get started!

Step 1:

Start by cutting or removing the roots from all your succulent cuttings using a pair of scissors.

Step 2: 

Wet the succulent potting mix you prepared with water and turn it into a soil ball like what is shown in the photo below. 

Step 3:

To keep your soil ball in shape throughout the Holiday season, cover it with sphagnum moss and wrap it using a rope.

 

Step 4:

Poke some holes in the soil ball to make it easier for you to place your succulent cuttings.

Step 5: 

Secure your cuttings by twisting the floral wire around the stem and covering it with floral tape before sticking it into the soil ball.

Make sure to trim off any excess wire.

Step 6:

Put your succulent cuttings in place. Begin by sticking the big sized succulents first into the soil ball and just fill in the small gaps with small sized ones.

Step 7:

Once done, place it in a pot and decorate it with small Christmas decorations you have on hand to complete the look.

Step 8:

Place the snowman head on top. Attach floral wire into the head to make it simple to affix it into the soil ball.

And you’re all done! You now have your own succulent snowman made perfect to display just in any space of your home this coming Holiday season!
