The Tillandsia Xerographica is widely known as the King of Air Plants, and it earns that title with its dramatic, wide-spreading rosette of thick, silvery-white leaves that curl and spiral elegantly outward as the plant matures. Its leaves are covered in fine trichomes that absorb moisture and nutrients directly from the air, making it a truly soil-free living sculpture. Compared to most other Tillandsia species, the Xerographica is exceptionally forgiving and drought tolerant, thriving with minimal care and making it an ideal choice for beginners and seasoned plant collectors alike. The striking contrast of its pale silver foliage against the deep black of the container creates a display that is both bold and refined.

This classic bonsai-style pot is a kiln-fired terracotta container finished with a rich, deep black glaze, featuring a side drain hole and an unglazed bottom to promote the airflow that air plants require to stay healthy.

Place your Xerographica in a spot with bright, indirect light, such as near a well-lit window but away from direct glass contact; soak the plant in water for about 30 minutes every one to two weeks, shake out excess moisture thoroughly, and allow it to dry completely upside down before returning it to its pot. Occasional misting between soaks and monthly feeding with a diluted, non-urea bromeliad fertilizer will encourage vibrant color, stronger growth, and eventual blooming.

  • Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour off any excess water after a few minutes. The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.
