  •   Sempervivum 'Dark Point' is a hardy British cultivar of houseleek, part of the alpine succulent family with exceptional cold resistance. This drought-tolerant succulent originates from European mountain regions where it naturally grows in rocky, well-draining conditions. The rosettes reach 3 to 4 inches across and develop a clustering growth habit, creating mat-like colonies of leaves with waxy texture and subtle green undertones intensified by dramatic dark red points that give this cultivar its name.

Each rosette has tight, pointed leaves arranged in a compact form, with dark red concentrated at the leaf tips and deepening in full sun exposure. It clusters by producing offsets around the mother rosette, gradually filling containers and garden spaces with successive generations. The foliage remains relatively compact and dense, maintaining its rosette structure without sprawling or becoming leggy.

During summer months, 'Dark Point' produces small star-shaped flowers on tall stalks, though flowering occurs infrequently since the plant directs most energy into producing offsets. It is completely pet-friendly and safe for cats and dogs, making it suitable for households with animals. It tolerates dry heated air indoors and handles balcony wind and rain when grown outdoors.

Move it outside for summer and keep it outdoors through autumn, or grow it year-round indoors with regular rotation for even development. You can leave it up to ten days without water. It works well in rock gardens, containers, and challenging locations where other plants struggle across most US regions.

  •   Sempervivum 'Dark Point' grows well in full sun to partial sun but scorches in direct south-facing windows.

Water it deeply every 10 to 14 days during the growing season, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings.

'Dark Point' does best in well-draining soil mix with sand, perlite, and gritty components.

It handles temperatures from 20°F to 85°F and is highly frost-tolerant.

'Dark Point' grows slowly and clusters naturally without requiring fertilizer for healthy development.

It is hardy in USDA zones 3 through 9 and tolerates temperatures down to -30°F. It grows outdoors year-round in Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
