  •   Sedum Clavatum is a trailing succulent native to the Tiscalatengo Gorge in Mexico, where it grows on rocky cliffs in bright, dry conditions. It belongs to the Sedum genus and spreads across pots and hanging baskets with equal ease, whether you're starting your first collection or adding to an established one.

It forms tight, symmetrical blue-green rosettes packed with plump, spoon-shaped leaves that blush pink at the tips when exposed to plenty of light. The trailing growth habit means stems cascade naturally over pot edges and basket sides. Leaves have a subtle powdery coating that gives each rosette a frosted appearance. As a wide spreader, it fills containers densely over time.

Small white star-shaped flowers bloom on upright stems in spring. A noticeable drop in nighttime temperatures encourages flower bud formation. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

Hang it in baskets where the trailing stems cascade over the sides, or move it outside for summer to soak up full sun. Bring it inside before hard frost arrives or if rain threatens the soil. Sedum Clavatum is non-toxic to cats and dogs. Propagate it easily from leaf or stem cuttings by letting them callous for a day or two, then setting them on dry, well-draining soil and misting lightly until roots form.

  •   Sedum Clavatum grows well in bright indirect light to full sun, ideally near a south or east-facing window.

Water it every 10 to 14 days in summer, reducing to once a month in winter, and allow the soil to dry completely between waterings.

Sedum Clavatum does best in a gritty, fast-draining mix of cactus soil blended with perlite or coarse sand.

It prefers temperatures between 60 and 80°F and should be protected from frost below 25°F.

Sedum Clavatum is a moderate to fast grower and benefits from a light balanced fertilizer once in spring and once in early summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11, tolerating brief dips to around 25°F before frost damage occurs. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Nevada. Coastal regions of Oregon and Washington can also work in sheltered spots, while growers in cooler states enjoy it as a container plant that comes inside for winter.
  • Q: How often should I water Sedum Clavatum?
A: Every 10 to 14 days during active growth, cutting back to roughly once a month in winter. Let the soil dry out fully between waterings to prevent root rot.

    Q: Is it pet friendly?
A: Sedum Clavatum is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: Can Sedum Clavatum grow outdoors?
A: It loves spending summer in bright sun, but move it to a sheltered spot or bring it inside before frost arrives. In USDA zones 9 to 11 it can live outside year-round with protection from heavy rain.

Q: Why are the leaves turning yellow?
A: Yellow leaves on Sedum Clavatum most often result from overwatering or poor drainage. Check that the soil dries completely between waterings and that the pot has adequate drainage holes.

Q: How does Sedum Clavatum propagate?
A: Let cuttings callous for a day or two, then set them on dry, well-draining soil and mist lightly until roots form.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: Sedum Clavatum is a moderate to reasonably fast grower that spreads wider over time, especially in good light. A well-cared-for plant fills a hanging basket or wide container within one to two growing seasons.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
