        The pads are blue-green to forest green with a waxy coating, typically 2-4 inches long and widening as 'Grand Mesa Peach' matures into a broad, spreading form. Spines are sparse and relatively short, with small glochids (hair-like barbs) that can irritate skin and require careful handling. The plant grows slowly and develops deep roots, so it needs a heavy pot to stay anchored and prevent tipping when fully established.
