  •   Pachyphytum Oviferum, also called Pink Moonstones, is a succulent in the Crassulaceae family native to the rocky hillsides of San Luis Potosí, Mexico. It forms tight, clumping rosettes of plump, egg-shaped leaves coated in a powdery farina that gives each leaf its signature pastel pink, lavender, and white glow.

The leaves feel almost waxy to the touch, and the soft pearlescent finish makes this compact rosette succulent visually distinctive. Avoid touching the leaves too often, as the farina brushes off easily and takes time to restore. It typically grows to about 4-5 inches tall and spreads wider over time as it clusters and offsets, staying compact and tidy in a 2- or 4-inch pot for quite a while.

Pachyphytum Oviferum produces reddish-orange to coral bell-shaped flowers on arching stems, typically blooming in late winter to early spring. A slight drop in nighttime temperatures encourages it to set buds, so placing it near a cooler window in autumn can result in a seasonal display.

Move it outside for summer to soak up fresh air and brighter light, but shelter it from rain and bring it back indoors before frost. Pachyphytum Oviferum is pet-friendly and safe for cats and dogs, making it an excellent desk succulent or beginner plant for any household. Rotate the pot periodically so every rosette develops evenly, and keep it away from air conditioner vents and heater drafts.

  •   Pink Moonstones Pachyphytum Oviferum grows well in bright indirect light to partial or full sun, though it may scorch in intense south-facing windows.

Water it every 10-14 days in summer and every 3-4 weeks in winter, always letting the soil dry completely between waterings.

Pachyphytum Oviferum does best in a gritty, well-draining cactus and succulent mix blended with perlite or coarse sand at roughly 50/50.

It prefers temperatures between 60-80°F and should be brought indoors before temperatures drop below 40°F.

Pachyphytum Oviferum is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from a diluted balanced succulent fertilizer applied once in spring and once in early summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, tolerating brief dips to around 25-30°F before cold damage sets in. It grows outdoors year-round across California, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Hawaii, Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi. Parts of Oregon, New Mexico, and coastal areas of the Carolinas and Virginia that sit within zones 9-11 can also keep it outside through the cooler months with minimal protection.
  • Q: How often should I water Pink Moonstones Pachyphytum Oviferum?
A: Every 10-14 days during warm months, scaling back to every 3-4 weeks in winter. Let the soil dry out fully before watering again.

Q: Is it safe for pets?
A: Pink Moonstones Pachyphytum Oviferum is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How much light does Pachyphytum Oviferum need?
A: It grows well in bright indirect light to partial or full sun. Rotate it regularly for even, balanced growth and avoid prolonged direct afternoon sun through a south-facing window to prevent leaf scorch.

    Q: Can I propagate it?
A: Pachyphytum Oviferum propagates easily from individual leaves or offsets pulled gently from the base of the rosette. Let cut ends callous for a day or two, then set them on dry succulent mix and mist lightly until roots form.

Q: How big does Pink Moonstones get?
A: It typically reaches about 4-5 inches tall and spreads wider over time as it offsets. Growth is slow, so it stays compact for quite a while.

    Q: Can I grow it outside year-round?
A: Pink Moonstones can move outdoors for summer and linger into autumn in mild climates, but must be sheltered from rain and brought indoors before frost. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zones 9-11.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
