  •   Mammillaria Haudeana Cactus is a rare pincushion cactus from the Mammillaria genus, native to the rocky, arid highlands of Mexico. It evolved in sun-drenched terrain with excellent drainage and dramatic temperature swings between day and night.

It grows in a clustering, clumping habit, forming dense mounds of small globular stems covered in spiraling tubercles. Each stem is studded with radial spines that create a neat pincushion texture and geometric pattern visible from every angle. Over time, it builds outward into an impressive low mound suited to bright windowsills or sunny shelves.

Mammillaria Haudeana produces rings of small magenta flowers that emerge from the previous season's growth, circling the crown of each stem in true Mammillaria fashion. Blooms appear in late winter to spring when the plant receives a distinct drop in nighttime temperatures. Keeping it slightly dry and cool through autumn and winter triggers its floral display.

It handles dry heated air well and can go up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer on a sunny patio, though it needs protection from rain to prevent rot. The sap can cause mild skin or paw irritation on contact, so place it on a high shelf away from small children and pets. Bright light and well-draining soil support steady growth.

  •   Mammillaria Haudeana Cactus grows well in bright indirect light, partial sun, or full sun for at least four to six hours daily.

Water it deeply every two to three weeks in summer, reducing to once a month or less in winter.

Mammillaria Haudeana does best in a gritty, fast-draining cactus mix blended with perlite or coarse sand at roughly a 50/50 ratio.

It prefers temperatures between 50–90°F and should be protected from frost below 25°F.

Mammillaria Haudeana is a slow to moderate grower; feed once in spring and once in midsummer with diluted low-nitrogen cactus fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9–11, tolerating brief dips to around 25°F but preferring frost-free conditions year-round. It grows outdoors in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi. It also grows in protected microclimates along the milder coastal reaches of Oregon and throughout these warm-season states in outdoor container displays or in the ground.
  • Q: How often should I water Mammillaria Haudeana Cactus?
A: Water every two to three weeks during the growing season. Check that the soil dries completely between waterings to prevent rot at the roots.

Q: Can this cactus survive a short trip without watering?
A: Mammillaria Haudeana Cactus can remain unwatered for up to ten days during brief absences.

Q: How do I get Mammillaria Haudeana to bloom?
A: Give it a cool, dry rest period through autumn and winter with nighttime temperatures dropping into the 50s°F. That temperature dip triggers magenta flowers in late winter or spring.

Q: Is it safe around cats and dogs?
A: Mammillaria Haudeana sap can cause mild skin or paw irritation on contact, so keep it on a high shelf out of reach of pets.

Q: How do I propagate Mammillaria Haudeana?
A: Gently separate offset clusters from the base of the mother plant during the growing season. Let the cut end callous for a day or two, then pot it in dry cactus mix and wait a week before watering.

Q: Why are the stems turning yellow?
A: Overwatering or poor drainage are the most common causes. Ensure your pot drains freely, reduce watering frequency, and move it away from cold, damp spots near AC or heating vents.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
