Kalanchoe Chocolate Soldier

  • This listing features our beautiful rooted Kalanchoe Chocolate Soldier or Kalanchoe Tomentosa. 'Chocolate Soldier' is very drought tolerant when established. The velvety leaves are covered with soft tiny hairs that act as a natural shield from hot sunlight. The tips of the yellow/grey-green leaves have slightly raised tooths with rusty brown spots. Kalanchoe Chocolate Soldier has thick stems which become woody with age.

It produces small, bell-shaped and yellow green flowers in summer.

All of the plants will be shipped bare root.

Fragile and big 4" plants are shipped bareroot to ensure their safety. When opening your package, some soil may be loose in the box. Plant orders are shipped within 3-5 days depending on availability of the plant. We ship our plants Monday through Friday, all twelve months of the year! If you need your order urgently, please message us so we can upgrade your shipping (additional cost applied). Here is our blog about the shipping process and packaging. We do not ship outside of the continental United States.

*** All of our packages are sterilized before leaving the door.
  • We only ship out beautiful, healthy plants! Please track your package and open it immediately upon arrival. If you receive your package and are not satisfied, please message us immediately. Fragile plants such as bearpaw, baby toe, etc. may break or loose a few of their leaves during transport. Please contact us for replacements if your plants are severely damaged. We'll try our best to accommodate you. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grown in, depending on availability or time of year.
  • Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour off any excess water after a few minutes. The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.

Good Experience

Plants were received in good condition and on time. I am a professional horticulturist and have ordered succulents from many different sources. I recommend this one.

Healthy Plant

I originally had a problem with the plant I received, seems like it was damaged in shipment. The company made it right and shipped me two healthy replacements!! I'm happy because I was hoping to find a place to order my succulents from. I will order again! Thanks :)

The only place I buy succulents from now. They come in healthy and with well established roots every time

Happy Plants!

I have been very happy with my Chocolate Soldiers! When they came in the mail there were three plants bundled together! It was clear from their shapes that the three of them had been grown in a cluster, but I chose to separate them. They did arrive with bare roots so, I planted them in a terracotta pot. I placed each of them very close to the edge of the pot so they would have support while their root systems developed. I made sure to plant them in soil specifically for cactus, succulents, palm, and citrus plants so they would have ample drainage. I have kept them on top of a tall shelf close to a window. They don't get direct sunlight but the ambient daylight in the room is bright. They have grown so much since I got them a month and a half ago! Their leaves are firm and the stems are getting tall. I'm very happy with my purchase!
