  •   Kalanchoe blossfeldiana 'Calandiva Yellow', also called Flaming Katy, is a succulent houseplant in the Crassulaceae family native to the rocky highlands of Madagascar. It ranks among the most popular flowering succulents grown worldwide.

Calandiva Yellow grows upright in a compact, clustering habit with thick, waxy leaves edged in scallops and colored glossy green. The foliage is tidy and structured, making it work equally well as a standalone accent or grouped with other low-humidity plants on a shelf or windowsill.

It produces dense, fully double blooms in warm, sunny yellow that last for weeks at a time. Flowering is triggered by cool night temperatures, so a slight temperature drop after summer encourages it to rebloom. The flowers are odorless, so you get color without fragrance.

Calandiva Yellow is drought tolerant and grows well in heated indoor spaces with dry air. You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer to a sheltered, bright spot away from heavy rain and direct midday sun, but bring it back indoors before temperatures drop. Keep it on a high shelf away from cats, dogs, and small children, as it is toxic if ingested.

  •   Kalanchoe blossfeldiana 'Calandiva Yellow' grows well in bright indirect light and scorches easily in south-facing windows with intense direct sun.

Water it every 10-14 days, allowing the soil to dry out fully between waterings. Wilting leaves indicate it needs water.

Calandiva Yellow does best in a well-draining cactus or succulent mix blended with perlite for extra drainage.

It prefers temperatures between 60-85°F and should be kept away from cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and heater outlets.

Calandiva Yellow is a moderate grower that benefits from a balanced liquid fertilizer applied monthly during the active growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10-11, tolerating minimum temperatures around 30-35°F before cold damage occurs. It grows outdoors year-round in southern Florida, coastal and southern California, Hawaii, and the southernmost parts of Texas and Arizona. It also survives mild winters in warmer pockets of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and sheltered parts of Nevada with extra protection.
  • Q: How often should I water Kalanchoe blossfeldiana 'Calandiva Yellow'?
A: Every 10-14 days, letting the soil dry completely between waterings. In winter, reduce watering to once a month.

Q: What happens if I overwater it?
A: Kalanchoe blossfeldiana 'Calandiva Yellow' develops root rot and soft, mushy stems when soil stays wet too long. Always empty drainage trays after watering.

Q: What light does Calandiva Yellow need indoors?
A: It performs best near an east or west-facing window with bright indirect light. South-facing windows with harsh afternoon sun cause leaf scorch.

Q: Can it grow under office lights?
A: Calandiva Yellow adapts well to bright office LEDs and makes a great desk or workspace plant. Rotate it regularly so all sides receive even light.

Q: How do I get Flaming Katy to rebloom?
A: Expose it to cool nights around 50-60°F and about 14 hours of darkness daily for six weeks to trigger buds. Once buds appear, move it back to bright conditions.

Q: Is it safe around pets and children?
A: No. Flaming Katy is toxic to cats, dogs, and small children if ingested, so keep it on a high shelf out of reach.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
