  •   Haworthia Attenuata, also called Zebra Plant or Zebra Haworthia, is a compact succulent in the family Asphodelaceae, native to the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It grows naturally in rocky, semi-arid terrain, often sheltering under shrubs and sparse canopy cover.

The leaves are thick, tapered, and dark green, arranged in a tight rosette that typically reaches three to five inches across. The outer surface of each leaf is covered in raised white tubercles banded in horizontal rows, giving the plant its zebra-like pattern. The inner leaf surface is smoother, with fewer markings concentrated near the tip.

Haworthia Attenuata produces slender tubular flowers on tall, wiry stems called inflorescences. The blooms are small, white to pale pink, and appear most often in summer, though a consistent drop in nighttime temperature can encourage flowering. It does not produce a noticeable fragrance.

You can leave it up to ten days without water, which suits travel or irregular schedules. Haworthia Attenuata fits well in terrariums and on desks, and you can move it outside for the summer months. Keep it covered or sheltered from rain outdoors, as standing water in the rosette and saturated soil both cause rot. This plant is pet friendly, and it grows well under standard office LED lighting.

  •   Haworthia Attenuata grows well in bright indirect light and tolerates standard office LED conditions without issue.

Water it every ten to fourteen days, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

Haworthia Attenuata does best in a well-draining cactus or succulent mix, ideally with added perlite.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and stays away from direct airflow from AC vents or heaters.

Haworthia Attenuata is a slow-growing succulent; feed it with a diluted succulent fertilizer once in spring and once in summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11, tolerating outdoor conditions down to around 30°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Hawaii. It also suits outdoor container placement in autumn in zone 8 states such as Oregon and North Carolina, brought in before frost.
  • Q: Is Haworthia Attenuata safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and pet friendly for both cats and dogs.

Q: How do I know if I am overwatering my succulent?
A: Haworthia Attenuata shows soft, mushy leaf bases and yellowing when it receives too much water. Let the soil dry out fully before the next watering.

Q: Can Haworthia Attenuata scorch in a sunny window?
A: Yes. A south-facing window with strong direct afternoon sun can bleach or brown the leaf tips. An east- or west-facing window keeps it out of the most intense light.

Q: How big does this succulent get?
A: Haworthia Attenuata stays compact, typically reaching three to five inches in diameter at maturity.

Q: Does Zebra Plant work in a terrarium?
A: Yes, it does well in open terrariums with good airflow and a well-draining substrate. Closed terrariums trap too much moisture and are not suitable.

Q: How do I propagate this plant?
A: Zebra Plant offsets readily by producing small pups at the base. Separate a pup once it has a few of its own roots, let the cut end dry for a day, then pot it in dry succulent mix.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
