Native habitat for the Graptopetalum genus spans Mexico and the southwestern United States, where these leathery-leaved succulents grow on rocky slopes and cliff faces.

        'Frank Reinelt' forms a compact rosette of thick, spoon-shaped leaves coated in a soft, chalky farina that gives the foliage a matte, powdery finish. The leaf color sits in a soft pastel pink and lavender-grey range, sometimes shifting toward deeper rose tones in stronger light. The farina is easily disturbed by touch or water droplets, so the powdery coating is best preserved by handling the plant from its base.

        It produces small, star-shaped flowers on slender arching stems, typically in spring. The blooms appear in pale yellow or white with faint red speckle markings, a classic Graptopetalum floral trait.
