  •   Echeveria Pinwheel is a compact succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the semi-arid highlands of Mexico. It evolved on rocky slopes and cliff faces, storing water in fleshy leaves to survive long dry periods. It is non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a practical choice for pet-owning households.

'Pinwheel' forms a tight, symmetrical rosette with spoon-shaped leaves arranged in a spiral pattern. The foliage is icy blue-green with red-tipped edges that deepen under direct sun. A natural chalky coating called farina covers the leaves, giving it a frosted appearance and protecting it from intense sunlight. Over time, it produces offsets around its base, creating a multi-rosette mound.

In spring to early summer, 'Pinwheel' sends up arching flower stalks with coral, orange, or soft red bell-shaped blooms. The flowers lack fragrance but stand out against the blue rosette. A cooler nighttime temperature drop in late winter encourages flowering.

Move it onto a sunny patio or balcony in summer for the best color and fastest growth. Protect it from heavy rain to prevent rot. You can leave it up to ten days without water. It releases oxygen at night, making it suitable for bedrooms. Propagate 'Pinwheel' by removing offsets at the base and potting them in fresh, gritty succulent mix. Use it in dish gardens or as a beginner's first collection plant.

  •   Echeveria Pinwheel grows well in bright indirect light to full direct sun, with 4-6 hours of morning sun daily.

Water it every 10-14 days in summer and reduce to once every 3-4 weeks in winter, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings.

'Pinwheel' does best in a gritty, fast-draining cactus and perlite mix, roughly 50/50 ratio.

It prefers temperatures between 65-80°F and should be protected from frost below 25°F.

'Pinwheel' is a slow to moderate grower; feed it lightly with diluted balanced fertilizer once in spring and once in summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, tolerating brief dips to around 25°F but needing frost protection below that threshold. It grows outdoors year-round across California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, and Louisiana, as well as warmer pockets of Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi. It can also thrive in the mild coastal climates of Oregon and Washington's protected zones, parts of New Mexico, and lower elevations of North Carolina through most of the year with minimal winter cover.
  • Q: How often should I water Echeveria Pinwheel?
A: Every 10-14 days in summer, backing off to once a month in winter. Let the soil dry out completely to prevent root rot.

Q: Is this succulent safe to have around pets?
A: Echeveria Pinwheel is non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a pet-friendly indoor plant.

Q: How much light does 'Pinwheel' need?
A: A south or east-facing window provides the best light. Rotate the pot every week or two so all sides of the rosette stay symmetrical and avoid uneven growth.

Q: How big will it get?
A: 'Pinwheel' typically reaches 4-6 inches in diameter as a single rosette, then spreads wider as it produces offsets around the base over time.

Q: Can 'Pinwheel' survive a trip without water?
A: It can go up to ten days without watering. Bring it back inside before nighttime temperatures drop near freezing.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
