  • The Echeveria 'Carino' is a mesmerizing succulent that embodies its name—"Carino" translates to "dear" or "beloved" in Spanish. Like its cousins, the 'Carino' is a hybrid belonging to the Echeveria genus, which is native to the rocky, semi-arid regions of Mexico and Central America. It has been bred specifically for the ornamental market to maximize its color intensity and structural hardiness.

The 'Carino' stands out because of its distinctive leaf shape and dramatic "stress" colors. Under bright light or cool temperature shifts, the tips of the leaves develop a deep, concentrated reddish-pink hue that looks almost like a fresh manicure. Additionally, its thick coat of epicuticular wax (farina) gives the plant a luxurious, velvet-matte appearance that resists water and protects the foliage.

During its blooming season, it sends out arching, pinkish-red stalks. The flowers are lantern-shaped and bright orange-to-yellow, providing a warm, fiery contrast to the cool blue tones of the rosette.

  • Needs very bright, indirect light. For the best "stress" colors (the pink tips), it requires at least 6 hours of sun daily. In scorching climates, provide morning sun and afternoon shade to avoid leaf burn.

Requires a gritty, fast-draining succulent mix. A blend of 50% potting soil and 50% drainage material like perlite, pumice, or coarse sand is ideal to prevent root rot.

    Prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F (18°C–27°C).

Use the "soak and dry" method. Wait until the soil is bone-dry throughout before watering deeply. Reduce watering significantly during the winter months when the plant is dormant.

Feed lightly once or twice during the growing season with a diluted, low-nitrogen fertilizer. Overfeeding can cause leggy growth and weaken the plant.

Non-toxic and pet-friendly. Echeveria 'Carino' is safe to keep around cats, dogs, and children.

  • Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour off any excess water after a few minutes. The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.
