  •   Blue Glow Century Plant Agave is a succulent in the Agave genus, native to the arid regions of Mexico. It has adapted to grow in rocky, well-drained soils with intense sun and minimal water.

It forms a tight, symmetrical rosette of smooth, blue-gray leaves edged with a luminous golden-orange margin. Each leaf tapers to a firm terminal spine, giving the plant its signature form. The leaves are blue and gray, consistent in color among succulents.

Century Plant Agave is monocarpic, meaning it blooms once after many years of growth, sending up a tall flower spike with yellow blossoms before completing its life cycle. Blooming is triggered in part by a significant night temperature drop, so plants grown indoors may rarely flower without that seasonal cue.

Century Plant Agave can go up to ten days without water and tolerates dry heated air with ease. You can move it outside for summer, where it handles balcony wind without trouble, and it can stay outdoors well into autumn in mild climates. The firm leaf tips and sap can cause skin and paw irritation, so keep it on a high shelf out of reach of both pets and small children.

  •   Blue Glow Century Plant Agave grows well in bright indirect light, partial sun, or full sun, though intense south-facing windows may scorch leaves.

Water it deeply every 2-3 weeks in summer, reducing to once a month or less in winter.

Century Plant Agave does best in a fast-draining cactus and succulent mix amended with extra perlite or coarse grit.

It prefers temperatures between 50-90°F and tolerates brief dips to around 25°F with protection from prolonged frost.

Century Plant Agave is a slow to moderate grower that needs only a light balanced fertilizer once in spring and once in early summer.

It is hardy in USDA Zones 9-11, tolerating brief cold down to around 25°F before needing frost protection. It grows outdoors year-round across California, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi, as well as along the Oregon and Washington coasts. In Zone 9 areas including parts of Arkansas, Tennessee, and central Texas, winter shelter helps keep it looking its best.
  • Q: How often should I water Blue Glow Century Plant Agave?
A: During the growing season, water every 2-3 weeks and let the soil dry completely between waterings. In winter, cut back to monthly or even less.

Q: Is this plant safe around pets and children?
A: Blue Glow Century Plant Agave has sap and firm leaf tips that can cause skin and paw irritation, so keep it on a high shelf well out of reach of both pets and small children.

Q: What happens if Blue Glow Agave gets too much direct sun?
A: Intense, prolonged direct sun from south-facing windows can scorch the leaves, so bright indirect light or partial sun works best indoors.

Q: How large does this plant get?
A: Blue Glow Agave typically reaches about 18-24 inches tall and 2-3 feet wide at maturity as a compact rosette.

Q: Can Blue Glow Agave survive outdoor winter in colder zones?
A: In USDA Zones 9-11 it can stay outside year-round, but in cooler zones bring it inside before hard frost or provide cover during cold snaps.

Q: Why doesn't this plant bloom indoors?
A: Blooming is triggered partly by a significant night temperature drop, so indoor plants rarely flower without that seasonal cue; the rosette color is worth growing it for anyway.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
