  •   Crassula cephalophora is a rare succulent native to the Western Cape of South Africa, where it grows across rocky, sun-baked terrain. Belonging to the Crassula genus, this plant has earned a devoted following among collectors who seek slow-growing, hard-to-find succulents with genuine character and sculptural appeal.

The plant forms tight, upright clusters of small, fleshy leaves arranged in opposite pairs that stack along each stem in a cross pattern, earning it the common name "mini propeller plant." The leaves have a softly textured, almost fuzzy surface and a muted grey-green tone. Its compact, clustering growth habit stays tidy without any pruning, making Crassula Cephalophora stand out on any windowsill or shelf.

It produces small, star-shaped flower clusters in white to pale cream tones, typically appearing when night temperatures drop during the cooler months. The flowers emerge from the tight leaf clusters.

Position it on bright indoor shelves, desk collections, or summer patios in a sheltered spot. Crassula Cephalophora needs cover from rain when moved outdoors and should come back inside before autumn temperatures drop. Keep it on a high shelf, away from cats, dogs, and small children, as it is not safe for pets or young children to nibble or eat. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

  •   Crassula cephalophora grows well in bright indirect light and can scorch in direct sun from a south-facing window.

Water it every ten to fourteen days in summer, then reduce to once every three to four weeks in winter.

Crassula Cephalophora grows well in a fast-draining mix of cactus soil blended with perlite or coarse grit at roughly 50/50.

It prefers temperatures between 60–80°F and should be protected from frost below 30°F.

Crassula Cephalophora is a slow growing succulent that needs only a light balanced feed once or twice during the active growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b–11, tolerating only brief dips near 25–28°F before frost damage occurs. It grows outdoors year-round in warm regions including California, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi, and along coastal Oregon. Gardeners in cooler states such as New York, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Colorado enjoy it as a container plant that moves indoors before the first frost.
  • Q: How often should I water Crassula cephalophora?
A: During the growing season, let the soil dry completely between waterings. In winter, reduce frequency significantly to extend the interval between drinks.

Q: Is this succulent safe for pets?
A: No. Crassula cephalophora should be kept on a high shelf out of reach of cats and dogs. It should also be placed away from small children.

Q: What kind of light does Crassula Cephalophora need?
A: Place it near an east or west-facing window where it receives bright indirect light. Harsh afternoon sun from a south-facing window will cause leaf damage.

Q: How large does it grow?
A: Crassula Cephalophora stays compact and slow growing, typically under six inches tall, forming tidy upright clusters over time.

Q: Can I propagate Crassula Cephalophora from cuttings?
A: Yes. Stem cuttings callous for a day or two before being placed in dry succulent mix root most reliably. Leaf propagation is also possible.

Q: Can it spend summer outdoors?
A: Move it outside to a sheltered, bright spot in summer. Crassula Cephalophora needs cover from rain to prevent root rot and should come back inside before autumn temperatures drop.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
