  •   Aglaonema 'Pink Pearl', also called Pink Pearl Chinese Evergreen, is a tropical foliage plant in the family Araceae, native to the humid forests of Southeast Asia. It belongs to one of the most hybridized genera in the houseplant world, with this cultivar selected for its soft pink and green patterned leaves.

The leaves of 'Pink Pearl' are broad and lance-shaped, flushing across the surface with patches of pink, cream, and green in a mosaic-like pattern. Each leaf grows on an upright stem, and the plant forms a bushy, upright mound rather than sprawling outward. The variegated leaves carry a semi-glossy surface, and the pink tones can intensify or soften depending on the light level.

Mature plants occasionally produce small spathe-type flowers typical of the Araceae family, but 'Pink Pearl' is grown entirely for its foliage rather than its blooms. It filters formaldehyde and other airborne toxins from indoor environments and actively purifies the air in the rooms where it grows. Cats and dogs shouldn't be left to nibble or eat the plant, and the sap can cause skin or paw irritation on contact, so it's best placed on a high shelf out of reach of pets and small children.

Rotate 'Pink Pearl' every few weeks so each side receives even light exposure and the canopy stays balanced. It grows well near a kitchen, where the ambient moisture from cooking and washing keeps the air humidity higher than in other rooms. Sensitive to air blowing directly from an air conditioner or heater, it does best away from vents. This is both a favourite for plant collectors hunting rare cultivars and a sought-after find for anyone who wants something beyond the standard green aglaonema.

  •   Chinese Evergreen 'Pink Pearl' grows well under office fluorescent or LED lighting and in bright indirect light away from south-facing windows, where direct sun scorches the leaves.

Water it every 10 to 14 days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry before watering again.

'Pink Pearl' does best in a well-draining mix of potting soil combined with perlite or coarse sand for aeration.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and should not be exposed to air below 55°F.

'Pink Pearl' is a slow to moderate grower and benefits from a balanced liquid fertilizer applied monthly during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 to 12, where outdoor temperatures stay reliably above 55°F year-round. It grows outdoors in Florida, Hawaii, southern California, and parts of Texas and Louisiana. In cooler states, it grows as a container plant brought indoors before temperatures drop in autumn.
  • Q: Can Chinese Evergreen 'Pink Pearl' survive under office lighting?
A: It grows well under standard fluorescent and LED office lights, as long as the fixture is reasonably close and the plant isn't sitting in a completely dark corner.

Q: How do I know when this plant needs water?
A: Chinese Evergreen 'Pink Pearl' wilts slightly when the soil has been dry too long. Check the top inch of soil before watering rather than going by a fixed schedule.

Q: Is 'Pink Pearl' safe to keep around cats and dogs?
A: Cats and dogs shouldn't nibble or eat it, and the sap can irritate skin and paws on contact. Keep it on a high shelf where pets can't reach it.

Q: What does overwatering look like in this plant?
A: 'Pink Pearl' develops yellowing lower leaves and soggy soil at the base when it receives too much water. Root rot can follow if the pot doesn't drain freely.

Q: Can Pink Pearl Chinese Evergreen go outside in summer?
A: Move it outside in a shaded or sheltered spot once nighttime temperatures are consistently above 60°F. Keep it covered or under an overhang, as rain can pool in the soil and cause root problems.

Q: How fast does this plant grow?
A: Pink Pearl Chinese Evergreen is a slow to moderate grower. You can expect a few new leaves per growing season under good indoor conditions.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
