  •   Aglaonema 'Lady Valentine', also called Chinese Evergreen, is a tropical foliage plant in the Araceae family, native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia. It grows naturally on the shaded forest floor, where indirect light and warm, humid air are constant.

The leaves are broad, oval, and pointed at the tip, each one patterned in deep green along the edges and flushed with pink toward the center and midrib. On some leaves, the pink deepens to near-magenta, while others show a softer rose blush across the surface. 'Lady Valentine' grows in an upright, compact rosette form, with leaves arching outward from a central stem.

Mature plants occasionally produce small, spathe-type flowers similar to other aroids, though 'Lady Valentine' is grown almost entirely for its foliage rather than its blooms. It filters formaldehyde and other airborne toxins and actively purifies indoor air over time.

Place it near a kitchen, where ambient moisture from cooking and washing helps maintain the humidity it prefers. Rotate the pot a quarter turn every few weeks so each side of the plant receives even light. Keep it away from heating vents and air conditioning units, as the direct airflow dries the leaves and causes browning at the tips. Cats and dogs shouldn't be left to nibble or eat the plant, and it is best placed away from small children. A high shelf works well to keep it out of reach.

  •   Chinese Evergreen 'Lady Valentine' grows well under office fluorescent or LED lighting and in bright indirect light from north or east-facing windows.

Water it every 10 to 14 days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings.

'Lady Valentine' does best in a well-draining mix of peat or coco coir, perlite, and a small amount of coarse sand.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and should not be exposed to drafts or air below 55°F.

'Lady Valentine' is a slow to moderate grower and benefits from a balanced liquid fertilizer applied once a month during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 to 12, where frost is rare or absent, and cannot tolerate temperatures below 50°F outdoors. It grows outdoors year-round in Hawaii, southern Florida, and the warmest parts of California, Arizona, and Texas. In cooler states, it is kept as an indoor plant and can be moved outside during warm summer months when nighttime temperatures stay consistently above 60°F.
  • Q: Can Chinese Evergreen 'Lady Valentine' survive a week or more without watering?
A: Yes, you can leave it up to ten days without water. Watch for slight wilting as a sign that the soil has dried out enough to water again.

Q: Which window direction works best for this plant indoors?
A: North and east-facing windows work well for Chinese Evergreen 'Lady Valentine'. South-facing windows should be avoided, as the direct sun scorches the leaves.

Q: Is 'Lady Valentine' safe to keep around pets?
A: Cats and dogs shouldn't be left to nibble or eat it. The sap can also cause skin and paw irritation on contact, so handling the plant and then touching pets without washing hands is worth avoiding.

Q: What happens if this plant is overwatered?
A: 'Lady Valentine' will develop yellowing leaves and soggy stems if the soil stays wet too long. Always let the top layer of soil dry before watering again.

Q: Does Chinese Evergreen actually purify indoor air?
A: Yes, it filters formaldehyde and other common indoor toxins from the air over time.

Q: How do I get even growth on all sides?
A: Rotate Chinese Evergreen a quarter turn every few weeks so each side receives consistent light exposure.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
