Long, lance-shaped leaves are the plant's defining visual feature, striped with feathery bands of deep green and soft light green in a bold zebra pattern. The foliage has a glossy surface on top with a pale underside, and it grows upright and compact, staying neat on a shelf or tabletop without sprawling. The tidy growth habit means it fits comfortably in smaller spaces.
Calathea 'Freddie' is grown primarily for its foliage rather than its flowers, which are modest and infrequent indoors. It actively filters formaldehyde and other toxins from indoor air, releases oxygen at night, and naturally humidifies the surrounding space through transpiration.
This prayer plant is non-toxic to cats and dogs, so you can display it anywhere without worry. It does well in kitchens and near open shelves where ambient moisture gathers, and grows well under office LEDs for anyone building a low-light desk garden. Rotate it regularly for even growth and keep it away from air conditioning vents and heater airflow.

Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
