The Bonsai Sedum (Sedum furfuraceum Moran) is a collector’s favorite, prized for its miniature, tree-like appearance and unusual "scaly" texture. Unlike many smooth-leaved succulents, this variety offers a rugged, ancient look that makes it a perfect natural bonsai without the need for complex training.
The "Furfuraceum" Texture: The name comes from the Latin furfur (meaning "bran" or "scales").Its leaves are covered in unique, whitish, scurfy scales that look like tiny flakes of "dandruff" or frost.
The Flower: In early spring, it produces delicate, star-shaped flowers that are typically whitish with purplish-red or pinkish centers.These blooms appear in small clusters and can last for about 10 days, providing a soft contrast to the plant's rugged texture.
Needs Bright, Indirect Light to Full Sun.At least 6 hours of sunlight is ideal.In high light, the leaves develop a stunning reddish-purple or bronze hue.
Use the "soak and dry" method.Water thoroughly only when the soil is 100% dry.During winter dormancy, reduce watering significantly (once every 3–5 weeks).
Requires well-draining soil.A professional cactus and succulent mix with added perlite or pumice is best to prevent moisture retention.
Thrives between 18°C–27°C (65°F–80°F). It can tolerate heat well but may enter dormancy if temperatures exceed 30°C (86°F).
Fertilize lightly during the growing season with a diluted, balanced formula. Do not feed during dormancy.
Generally considered non-toxic to cats, dogs, and humans, making it a safe choice for pet-friendly households.
USDA Hardiness Zones: 9–11. It is not frost-hardy and should be brought indoors if temperatures drop below -1°C (30°F).

Your plant will be carefully wrapped in a sturdy box. Most of the succulents will be shipped bare-root to ensure their safety. If you want to receive the plastic pot & soil, please leave a note in your order. When opening your package, some soil may be loose in the box. Plant orders are shipped within 3-5 days depending on the availability of the plant. We ship our plants Monday through Friday, all twelve months of the year! If you need your order urgently, please message us so we can upgrade your shipping (additional cost applied). We do not ship outside of the continental United States.

Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered
light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do
NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour
off any excess water after a few minutes.
The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot
area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended
periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.
