  •   Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts', also called Queen Of Hearts Anthurium, is a rare tropical aroid native to the rainforests of Central and South America. It belongs to the Araceae family and grows naturally in humid, shaded understory environments.

Heart-shaped leaves are the most immediate feature, broad and velvety to the touch, with a deep green surface that can take on dark, almost burgundy-red tones depending on light conditions. The leaf texture is soft and matte, with a slightly puckered surface and pale veining that traces through each blade. 'Queen of Hearts' grows as an upright collector plant with leaves that emerge on sturdy petioles, giving it a structured, layered form.

As a rare aroid, 'Queen of Hearts' is grown primarily for its foliage rather than its blooms, and flower production indoors is infrequent and subtle when it does occur. It does, however, actively filter indoor air, absorbing formaldehyde and other airborne toxins while naturally adding moisture to the surrounding air through transpiration. The leaves wilt slightly when the soil has gone dry, which gives a clear visual cue without needing to track a strict schedule.

Rotate 'Queen of Hearts' every few weeks so each side receives equal light exposure, as uneven light causes one-sided growth over time. It does well near a kitchen, where ambient moisture from cooking and washing keeps the surrounding humidity elevated. Cats, dogs, and small children should not have access to it, as the sap causes irritation on skin and paws and the plant is harmful if ingested. Keep it on a high shelf or in a room where pets and toddlers cannot reach it. As a rare aroid and collector plant, 'Queen of Hearts' suits someone building a tropical houseplant collection and is sensitive to being moved once it has settled into a position.

  •   Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts' grows well in bright indirect light, away from direct sun exposure.

Water it every seven to ten days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry between waterings.

'Queen of Hearts' does best in a chunky, well-draining mix of orchid bark, perlite, and peat.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and is sensitive to cold air from AC vents or heaters.

'Queen of Hearts' is a slow to moderate grower; feed it with a balanced liquid fertilizer monthly during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 through 12, where frost does not occur and temperatures stay above 50°F year-round. It grows outdoors in Hawaii, southern Florida, and parts of southern California. It can also move outside for summer in warmer regions, provided it stays in a sheltered spot with cover from direct rain.
  • Q: Is Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts' safe for pets?
A: Cats and dogs should not be left to nibble or eat it, as the sap irritates skin and paws and the plant is harmful if ingested. Keep it on a high shelf well out of reach.

Q: Why are the leaves on my anthurium turning yellow?
A: Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts' most often develops yellow leaves from overwatering, low humidity, or cold air from a nearby vent. Check that the soil is not staying wet between waterings and move it away from AC or heater airflow.

Q: How do I know when 'Queen of Hearts' needs water?
A: The leaves wilt slightly when the soil has been dry too long. Check the top inch of soil with your finger before watering rather than going by a fixed schedule.

Q: Can this anthurium grow under office lighting?
A: 'Queen of Hearts' can adapt to grow under office LED lighting, provided the fixture is bright enough and positioned close to the plant. Low-output overhead lighting alone is usually not sufficient for sustained healthy growth.

Q: How do I propagate Queen Of Hearts Anthurium?
A: Propagate by stem division or by separating offsets at the root level during repotting. Each division needs at least one node and a healthy root section to establish.

Q: Is this a rare plant?
A: Queen Of Hearts Anthurium is a rare collector aroid and is not commonly found in standard garden centers. It is more frequently available through specialty tropical plant shops and private collectors.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
