  •   Anthurium 'Orange', also called Flamingo Flower, is a tropical flowering plant in the Araceae family, native to the rainforests of Central and South America. It grows naturally in warm, humid environments with filtered canopy light, and has been widely cultivated as an indoor houseplant for its long-lasting blooms and glossy foliage.

The leaves are heart-shaped, forest green, and have a smooth, waxy surface that catches light without reflecting it harshly. Each leaf grows on an upright stem, giving the plant a structured, upright form. The spathe, the flat modified leaf that surrounds the flower spike, comes in a vivid orange and has the same waxy, almost lacquered finish as the foliage.

'Orange' produces blooms throughout much of the year, with orange spathes surrounding a pale, elongated spadix. The flowers are long-lasting and do not carry a noticeable fragrance. This anthurium is known to purify indoor air, filtering formaldehyde and other toxins, and the leaves release some moisture into the surrounding air as part of the plant's natural transpiration.

Place it away from south-facing windows, where direct sun scorches the spathes and leaves. High humidity keeps it at its best, and it does particularly well near a kitchen where ambient moisture stays elevated. 'Orange' is sensitive to sudden moves and to air blowing directly from an AC unit or heater vent. Keep it on a high shelf or out of reach, as the sap causes skin and paw irritation, cats and dogs shouldn't be left to nibble on it, and it should be kept away from small children.

  •   Anthurium 'Orange' thrives in bright indirect light, away from direct sun exposure.

Water it every seven to ten days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry between waterings.

'Orange' does best in a chunky, well-draining mix of orchid bark, perlite, and potting soil.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 85°F and should not drop below 55°F.

'Orange' grows at a moderate pace and benefits from a balanced liquid fertilizer every four weeks in spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 11 to 12, where frost does not occur. It grows outdoors year-round in Hawaii and parts of southern Florida. It performs well as a container plant moved outside for summer in California, Texas, Georgia, and other warm states.
  • Q: How often should I water Anthurium 'Orange'?
A: Check the top inch of soil first. If it still feels damp, wait a few more days. The leaves will wilt slightly when the plant is genuinely dry and ready for water.

Q: How much light does this plant need indoors?
A: Anthurium 'Orange' does best a few feet back from a bright east or west-facing window. The spathes can bleach and the leaf edges can scorch if the plant sits too close to unfiltered glass.

Q: Why are 'Orange' leaves turning yellow?
A: Yellow leaves usually point to overwatering, low humidity, or cold drafts from a nearby vent. Check that the soil isn't staying wet between waterings and that the plant isn't sitting in a stream of conditioned air.

Q: How do I propagate this plant?
A: 'Orange' is propagated by stem cuttings or by dividing the root clump at repotting. Each division or cutting needs at least one node and one healthy leaf to establish successfully.

Q: Is Flamingo Flower safe around pets?
A: Cats and dogs shouldn't be left to nibble or eat the plant. The sap also causes skin and paw irritation on contact, so handling should be done with care.

Q: How do I encourage more blooms?
A: Flamingo Flower needs consistently warm temperatures and high humidity to bloom well. A slight drop in night temperature and a phosphorus-higher fertilizer during the growing season can encourage a new flush of spathes.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
