  •   Syngonium podophyllum, also called Arrowhead Plant, is a fast-growing tropical foliage plant native to the rainforests of Central and South America, where it climbs and trails through the understory. It belongs to the Araceae family and arrives in a 4" pot, with four different varieties included so you get a range of leaf shapes and colors in one order.

Each variety in this collection carries arrow-shaped leaves that shift in form as the plant matures, starting compact and becoming more lobed over time. Leaf colors across the four varieties span forest green, white, and vivid cream-to-pink tones, often with contrasting veining or marbled patterning. The stems trail and extend outward, and the overall growth habit works equally well spilling from a hanging basket or spreading low in a terrarium.

Syngonium podophyllum rarely flowers indoors, and indoor blooms are not a feature to count on with this plant. What draws most attention is the foliage itself: the leaves shift color and shape noticeably as each plant matures, with juvenile and adult growth often looking quite different on the same stem. It also naturally humidifies the air around it, and NASA research has linked it to filtering formaldehyde and other indoor toxins.

Rotate it every week or two so all sides receive even light exposure. Syngonium podophyllum does well near a kitchen window where ambient moisture from cooking keeps humidity levels up, and it also settles into a terrarium without any trouble. The trailing stems need a hanging hook or a bracket to keep them from flopping, and you can move it outside for summer once nighttime temperatures stay reliably above 60°F. Keep it on a high shelf or well out of reach, as the sap can irritate skin and paws, and cats and dogs shouldn't be left to nibble or eat the plant. Small children should not have unsupervised access to the leaves or stems either.

  •   4 Different Syngonium Plants - Arrowhead Plants grows well under bright indirect light, including standard office LED fixtures. South-facing windows can scorch the leaves, so east or north exposure works better.

Water it when the top inch of soil feels dry, roughly every 7 to 10 days in warmer months and less often in winter. It wilts slightly when it needs water.

Syngonium podophyllum does best in a well-draining, peat-based or coco coir mix with added perlite for aeration. Soggy soil leads to root rot.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 85°F and does not handle air from AC vents or heating units blowing directly on it. Keep it away from cold drafts near windows in winter.

Syngonium podophyllum is a fast-growing trailing vine that can put out several new leaves per month during spring and summer. Feed it with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength once a month during the growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 through 12, where frost does not occur, and does not tolerate temperatures below 50°F. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, Hawaii, southern California, and coastal areas of Texas and Louisiana. It can also spend summer months outside in zones 8 and 9, including Georgia, South Carolina, Arizona, and the Pacific Northwest, as long as it comes back indoors before overnight temperatures drop in autumn.
  • Q: Is 4 Different Syngonium Plants - Arrowhead Plants safe for cats and dogs?
A: Cats and dogs shouldn't be left to nibble or eat the plant, and the sap can irritate paws and skin on contact. Keep it on a high shelf or in a spot pets cannot reach.

Q: Can this plant really purify indoor air?
A: 4 Different Syngonium Plants - Arrowhead Plants has been linked to filtering formaldehyde and other airborne toxins in NASA's indoor plant studies, and it naturally adds moisture to the air around it.

Q: How do I propagate Syngonium podophyllum?
A: Cut a stem just below a node, place it in water or moist potting mix, and roots typically appear within two to four weeks. Spring and summer cuttings root the fastest.

Q: Why are the leaves on my plant turning yellow?
A: Syngonium podophyllum most often yellows from overwatering or from sitting in soggy soil for too long. Check that the pot drains freely and let the top inch of soil dry out before watering again.

Q: Where should I place an Arrowhead Plant in my home for the best results?
A: An east-facing window or a spot a few feet back from a bright window works well. Direct sun through south-facing glass can bleach or scorch the leaf edges, so keep it out of that direct beam.

Q: Can this plant grow in a terrarium?
A: Arrowhead Plant settles into a terrarium without trouble, and the enclosed humidity suits it well. Just make sure the terrarium has some ventilation so air can circulate around the stems.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
