  •   Gasteria Little Warty is a compact succulent belonging to the Gasteria genus in the Asphodelaceae family. Native to the rocky, shaded hillsides of South Africa, it evolved to grow in low light conditions beneath shrubs and rock overhangs. It tolerates a range of indoor light conditions and is suitable for beginners.

The plant earns its name from distinctive white warty tubercles scattered across its thick, tongue-shaped leaves. Leaves emerge in an upright rosette of deep green with gray-green mottling and pebbly texture. It stays compact and sculptural at 4–6 inches tall and wide.

It produces slender, arching flower spikes adorned with small tubular blooms in coral to pinkish-red, typically appearing in late winter through spring. Blooms are not fragrant but add color above the rosette. A slight nighttime temperature drop during cooler months encourages flowering.

It grows well under standard LED lighting and handles the dry heated air common in most homes. Move it outside in summer to a shaded or partly shaded spot, but provide cover from rain to prevent root rot. Deep roots mean it appreciates a heavier pot that keeps it anchored and stable as it grows. Gasteria Little Warty is non-toxic to cats and dogs.

  •   Gasteria Little Warty grows well in low light, medium light, or bright indirect light, but scorches in direct south-facing windows.

Water it every 2–3 weeks during the growing season, reducing to once a month in winter and letting soil dry completely between waterings.

Gasteria Little Warty grows best in a well-draining mix of cactus soil blended with extra perlite for healthy roots.

It prefers temperatures between 50–85°F and should be kept away from frost.

Gasteria Little Warty is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from light feeding once in spring and once in summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11 and tolerates brief dips to around 25°F with protection. It grows outdoors in California, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi. Parts of Arkansas, New Mexico, the Pacific Northwest coast, and coastal Oregon also reach zone 9.
  • Q: Is Gasteria Little Warty pet friendly?
A: It is non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Q: What window placement works best for this plant?
A: Gasteria Little Warty does well in low to bright indirect light. East or west-facing windows work best; south-facing direct sun causes leaf scorch.

Q: How much does Gasteria Little Warty grow?
A: It stays compact, reaching 4–6 inches tall and wide at maturity with slow to moderate growth.

Q: Can it survive without frequent watering?
A: Gasteria Little Warty can go 2–3 weeks between waterings in the growing season, longer in winter. Leaves droop noticeably when soil is completely dry.

Q: How do I propagate Gasteria Little Warty?
A: Separate offsets or pups from the base of the mother plant in spring, let them callous for a day or two, then pot in well-draining cactus mix.

Q: Can this plant go outside in summer?
A: Move it to a shaded or partly shaded spot for summer. Gasteria Little Warty needs rain cover to prevent root rot and should come back inside before fall temperatures drop.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
