  •   Graptoveria Silver Star is a rare hybrid succulent that crosses Graptopetalum and Echeveria, two genera native to the arid regions of Mexico and Central America. It combines the best traits of both parents into one specimen with distinctive form and minimal water needs.

'Silver Star' forms tight, upright rosettes with plump, pointed leaves in cool gray-green tones. The leaves are smooth with a subtle powdery coating, and the plant clusters outward over time to create a dense, geometric display. Individual rosettes stay just a few inches across, making it suitable for windowsills, desks, and small container gardens.

Under the right conditions, 'Silver Star' produces small star-shaped blooms when temperatures drop at night, a common trigger for flowering in graptoveria hybrids. The foliage shifts in color intensity under bright light, deepening from gray-green toward more saturated tones as light exposure increases.

You can leave it up to ten days without water. 'Silver Star' is non-toxic to cats and dogs. The clustering habit means you can separate offsets naturally and propagate them to expand your collection. Move it outside in summer to a bright, sheltered spot, but keep it covered from rain to prevent rot.

  •   Graptoveria Silver Star grows well in bright indirect light and tolerates some direct sun, though harsh south-facing windows scorch its leaves.

Water it every 10 to 14 days during spring and summer, then pull back to once a month in winter when growth slows.

'Silver Star' does best in a gritty, fast-draining cactus and succulent mix amended with extra perlite for excellent drainage.

It prefers temperatures between 60 and 80°F and should be protected from frost below 25°F.

'Silver Star' is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from a diluted, balanced fertilizer once in spring and once in early summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11, where winter temperatures stay above 25°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Nevada, and the mild coastal stretches of Oregon. In cooler states outside these zones, grow it in a container that moves outside for summer and comes back indoors before the first frost.
  • Q: How often should I water Graptoveria Silver Star?
A: During the growing season, water when the soil dries out completely. The leaves will soften or wrinkle slightly when thirsty.

Q: Is it safe to have around cats and dogs?
A: Graptoveria Silver Star is non-toxic and considered pet friendly for both cats and dogs.

Q: Can 'Silver Star' handle direct sun?
A: It tolerates some direct sun but scorches easily in harsh south-facing windows. Bright indirect light is safest, though rotating the pot regularly helps ensure even growth.

Q: How large does it get?
A: 'Silver Star' forms compact rosettes a few inches across and slowly clusters outward over time, staying tidy enough for shelves and small container gardens.

Q: How do I propagate 'Silver Star'?
A: Gently separate a cluster from the base of the mother rosette, let the base callous for a day or two, then pot it up in dry succulent soil.

Q: Can it survive outdoors in cold climates?
A: 'Silver Star' grows outdoors year-round only in zones 9 through 11 where frost stays above 25°F. In colder regions, grow it in a container and move it indoors before the first frost arrives.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
