  •   Echeveria Setosa Var. Ciliata is a rare fuzzy succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the mountainous regions of Mexico. It has captured collectors' attention worldwide with its easy care and distinctive texture. If you love drought-tolerant succulents with serious personality, this plant belongs in your collection.

Tight, symmetrical rosettes form densely packed with plump green leaves covered in fine white hairs, giving it that signature fuzzy succulent look. The hairy habit creates a soft, almost velvety appearance up close, while the clustering growth style means one plant gradually becomes a multi-rosette display. Mature rosettes reach 3–5 inches across, and the fine cilia along each leaf edge distinguish it from other echeveria varieties.

When it blooms in spring, Echeveria Setosa Ciliata produces tall slender stalks topped with red and yellow tubular flowers. A temperature drop during cooler months triggers those eye-catching flower spikes. The blooms are not fragrant, but the fiery color contrasts sharply against the soft green foliage.

Move it outside in summer to soak up natural light, but provide cover from rain since excess moisture on those fuzzy leaves invites rot. You can leave it up to ten days without water. This compact rosette plant is pet-friendly and stays manageable for years on a sunny windowsill, outdoor container garden, or summer patio display.

  •   Echeveria Setosa Var. Ciliata grows well in bright indirect light, partial sun, or full sun with a few hours of direct morning light daily.

Water it deeply every 10–14 days in summer and reduce to once every 3–4 weeks in winter, always letting soil dry completely between waterings.

Echeveria Setosa Ciliata does best in well-draining cactus and succulent mix blended with coarse perlite or pumice to prevent root rot.

It prefers temperatures between 65–80°F and should be protected from frost below 25°F.

Echeveria Setosa Ciliata is a slow to moderate grower and benefits from diluted balanced fertilizer once in early spring and once in midsummer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9–11, tolerating minimum temperatures around 25–30°F before needing frost protection. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi. Coastal areas of Oregon and Washington support it outdoors as well, and collectors in New Mexico, Arkansas, North Carolina, and parts of Virginia can enjoy it outdoors through warmer months with seasonal bring-ins.
  • Q: Is Echeveria Setosa Var. Ciliata pet friendly?
A: It is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: What happens if I overwater?
A: Echeveria Setosa Var. Ciliata is prone to root rot and leaf decay when exposed to excess moisture, especially on the fuzzy leaves.

Q: How much light does Echeveria Setosa Ciliata need indoors?
A: Place it near a bright window with several hours of direct or bright indirect light each day. Rotate the pot regularly to keep the rosette growing evenly.

Q: Does it need a lot of space?
A: Echeveria Setosa Ciliata stays compact, with mature rosettes reaching 3–5 inches across and clustering slowly into a wider mound over time.

Q: Can Echeveria Setosa Ciliata go outside in summer?
A: Moving it outdoors boosts growth and color. Just shelter it from heavy rain to protect the fuzzy leaves from staying wet.

Q: How do I propagate it?
A: Gently separate offsets from the mother rosette and plant them in fresh, well-draining succulent mix. Echeveria Setosa Ciliata can also propagate from individual leaves, though offsets root faster and more reliably.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
