  •   Echeveria lilacina, also called Ghost Plant, is a succulent in the Crassulacaeae family native to rocky limestone slopes in Nuevo León, northeastern Mexico. This drought-tolerant succulent has earned a steady following among both casual growers and collectors for its unfussy care and distinctive appearance.

The plant forms a tight, symmetrical rosette of thick, spoon-shaped leaves coated in a powdery silver and lavender bloom that gives it its ghostly appearance. The leaves shift between soft blue, purple, and silver tones depending on light and season. That farina coating is fragile; touching the leaves disturbs the color, so handle it sparingly. It typically reaches about 6 inches in diameter at maturity and fits well in 2" to 4" pots.

Echeveria lilacina produces coral-pink to reddish flower stalks in late winter through spring, with blossoms arching above the rosette on long stems. A drop in nighttime temperatures helps trigger blooming, so placing it in a cooler spot through autumn and winter increases the chances of flowering. Rotating the plant regularly throughout the year ensures the rosette stays symmetrical.

Move it outside in summer in a bright spot, but keep it sheltered from heavy rain to protect the leaves and roots. You can leave it up to ten days without water. It tolerates dry heated indoor air and stays away from direct air conditioning or heater vents. This plant is non-toxic to cats and dogs. It works well on sunny windowsills, patio containers, and rock gardens in warmer climates.

  •   Ghost Echeveria lilacina grows well in bright indirect light to full sun, with some protection from intense afternoon rays to prevent scorching in south-facing windows.

Water it every 10–14 days in summer and just once every 3–4 weeks in winter, always allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings.

Echeveria lilacina does best in a gritty, fast-draining mix such as cactus soil blended with perlite or coarse sand at a 1:1 ratio.

It prefers temperatures between 60–80°F and should be brought indoors before temperatures drop near freezing (32°F).

Echeveria lilacina is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from diluted balanced fertilizer once a month during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9–11, where winter temperatures stay above 20–25°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi. Sheltered coastal areas of Oregon and parts of New Mexico, Arkansas, and North Carolina within Zone 9 microclimates can also support it outdoors with minimal winter protection.
  • Q: Is Ghost Echeveria lilacina pet friendly?
A: It is non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a safe choice for pet households.

Q: Why are the leaves on my plant turning yellow?
A: Yellow leaves most often signal overwatering or soil staying too wet. Ghost Echeveria lilacina needs the soil to dry out completely between waterings and the pot must have drainage holes.

Q: How do I propagate Echeveria Lilacina?
A: Propagation happens easily from leaf cuttings or offsets. Allow the cutting to callous for a day or two, then set it on dry succulent soil and mist lightly until roots form.

Q: Can this plant survive a trip without a watering sitter?
A: Yes. Echeveria Lilacina can handle up to 10 days without water.

Q: How much light does Ghost Plant need?
A: It grows best near a bright east or west-facing window indoors. Faded or weakened leaves indicate low light; move it closer to the light source or add a few hours of direct morning sun.

Q: What size does the plant reach at maturity?
A: Ghost Plant typically forms a compact rosette about 6 inches in diameter, fitting comfortably in small containers.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
