  •   Echeveria Ciliata x Nodulosa, also called Echeveria 'Joan Daniel', is a rare hybrid succulent that combines two Mexican Echeveria species into one rosette. It originates from the rocky, sun-drenched highlands of Mexico, where succulents have evolved to thrive with minimal water and maximum light.

Tight, symmetrical rosettes form with fleshy, spoon-shaped leaves displaying green tones marked by deep burgundy-red edges and painted lines across the leaf surface. The leaf margins carry subtle texture inherited from the ciliata parent, giving it an almost fringed appearance up close. As a clustering grower, it gradually spreads outward, producing offsets that fill a pot over time.

A noticeable drop in nighttime temperatures encourages blooming. Under bright light, the red and burgundy markings intensify and the rosette takes on a jewel-like quality. You can leave it up to ten days without water during the growing season.

Move it outside in summer to encourage growth and deeper color, but shelter it from heavy rain to protect the rosette from rot. It is non-toxic to cats and dogs, so you can display it anywhere in your home. It grows well on a sunny windowsill, a patio in summer, or under quality office LEDs that provide consistent bright light. Offsets are the fastest propagation method; gently remove them from the base and pot them in succulent mix.

  •   Echeveria Ciliata x Nodulosa grows well in bright indirect light, partial sun, or full sun with protection from intense midday rays that can scorch leaves.

Water it deeply every 10-14 days in summer and reduce to once a month during winter dormancy.

Echeveria Ciliata x Nodulosa grows best in gritty, fast-draining cactus and succulent mix amended with extra perlite for excellent drainage.

It prefers temperatures between 60-80°F and should be brought indoors before temperatures drop below 40°F.

Echeveria Ciliata x Nodulosa is a moderately slow grower that benefits from diluted balanced fertilizer applied once or twice during the active growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, tolerating minimum temperatures down to around 25-30°F with protection from hard frost. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and the mild coastal areas of Oregon and Washington. It also does well in parts of New Mexico, Arkansas, and North Carolina, giving a wide range of southern and coastal growers the opportunity to enjoy this rare hybrid as a permanent outdoor plant.
  • Q: How often should I water Echeveria Ciliata x Nodulosa?
A: During the growing season, allow the soil to dry completely between waterings; this typically means every 10-14 days in summer. In winter, water once a month or less.

Q: Is it safe to keep around cats and dogs?
A: Echeveria Ciliata x Nodulosa is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs, so you can display it anywhere without concern.

Q: What window direction works best indoors for Echeveria Ciliata x Nodulosa?
A: A south or west-facing window provides the brightest light. Rotate the pot regularly to keep the rosette growing evenly on all sides.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: Echeveria Ciliata x Nodulosa spreads gradually through offset formation, with a single plant filling a pot over one to two years.

Q: Can Echeveria 'Joan Daniel' be propagated easily?
A: Offsets are the fastest method. Gently remove them from the base and pot them in succulent mix; leaf propagation is also possible, though offsets root more reliably.

Q: Does scorching happen with direct afternoon sun?
A: Echeveria 'Joan Daniel' can scorch if exposed to intense midday rays without gradual acclimation. Provide afternoon shade during the hottest months or move the pot to a location with morning sun and afternoon filtered light.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
