  •   Variegated Aloe Plant (Aloe variegata) is a succulent native to the rocky, semi-arid regions of southern Africa. It has been valued for centuries both as an air-purifying indoor companion and for its traditional medicinal properties.

It forms a compact, clumping rosette of thick, fleshy leaves banded with creamy white or pale yellow markings against a green base. The leaf edges are lined with soft, spine-like teeth, and the upright form stays naturally tidy without pruning. You can expect it to reach about 4 inches tall in a container.

When given a seasonal night temperature drop, it produces tall flower spikes with tubular blooms in shades of orange, red, or coral. The plant also filters indoor air year-round, releasing oxygen as it grows.

You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outdoors in summer to a bright, sheltered spot, but protect it from heavy rain and bring it inside before cool nights arrive. It spreads gradually by producing offsets or "pups" at the base, which you can separate and pot individually to expand your collection. Keep it on a high shelf away from pets and small children, as the sap can cause skin and paw irritation.

  •   Variegated Aloe Plant grows in bright indirect light, partial sun, or direct sun, though intense south-facing windows during peak summer may cause leaf scorch.

Water it deeply every 2-3 weeks in summer and reduce to once a month or less in winter, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings.

Variegated Aloe does best in a fast-draining cactus and succulent mix blended with extra perlite or coarse sand to prevent soggy roots.

It prefers temperatures between 55-80°F and should be brought indoors before temperatures drop near freezing, as it is frost sensitive.

Variegated Aloe is a slow to moderate grower and needs only a light, diluted succulent fertilizer once or twice during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, tolerating minimum temperatures around 25-30°F with some protection, though it performs most reliably in frost-free conditions. It grows outdoors across Florida, Southern California, coastal and inland Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Louisiana, southern Georgia, South Carolina, southern Nevada, Alabama, and Mississippi. It also grows along mild coastal stretches of Oregon and in sheltered spots throughout New Mexico and parts of the Gulf Coast states where winters stay relatively mild.
  • Q: How often should I water Variegated Aloe Plant?
A: Every 2-3 weeks during warm months, cutting back to once a month in winter. Let the soil dry out fully between waterings to prevent root rot.

Q: Is the plant safe for pets?
A: No. Variegated Aloe Plant sap can cause skin and paw irritation, and cats and dogs shouldn't nibble or eat it, so keep it on a high shelf out of reach.

Q: What window direction works best for Variegated Aloe?
A: A bright east- or west-facing window works well. South-facing placement can scorch the leaves during intense afternoon summer sun, so filter that light or move it back slightly.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: Variegated Aloe grows at a slow to moderate pace, spreading gradually by producing offsets at the base that form an attractive clumping rosette over time.

Q: Can I propagate Variegated Aloe from offsets?
A: Yes. Simply separate the pups growing at the base and pot them individually in well-draining succulent mix; they'll establish within a few weeks.

Q: Where can I grow it outdoors?
A: Variegated Aloe grows outdoors year-round in USDA zones 9-11, including Florida, Hawaii, Southern California, Arizona, and parts of Texas, the Gulf Coast, and the Southwest where frost is minimal or absent.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
