  •   Red Carpet Sedum Succulent is a low-growing creeping succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the Caucasus region of western Asia. It has naturalized across rocky slopes and dry hillsides where thin soil and full sun are standard.

Sedum 'Red Carpet' forms a dense, trailing mat of small, rounded leaves that deepen to burgundy-red tones in strong sunlight. Its clustering, clumping growth habit creates a carpet effect, with fleshy leaves packed tightly along sprawling stems that spill over edges, walls, and containers. The foliage grows 2 to 4 inches tall and spreads horizontally across soil and rock surfaces.

It produces bright, star-shaped pink to magenta blooms in summer, typically clustered in flat-topped heads above the foliage. A cool night temperature drop encourages budding and supports consistent annual flowering.

Move it outside in summer to soak up full sun and encourage deeper red leaf color. It handles balcony wind and rain without trouble, tolerates dry heated indoor air during winter, and propagates easily from stem cuttings pressed into well-draining soil. Sedum 'Red Carpet' is pet-friendly. Use it in rock gardens, container edges, balcony planters, and hanging baskets where its trailing habit extends freely.

  •   Red Carpet Sedum Succulent grows well in partial sun to full sun and adapts well to both direct sun exposure and lower-light indoor spots.

Water it thoroughly, then allow the soil to dry completely between waterings, roughly every 10 to 14 days indoors.

Sedum 'Red Carpet' grows best in a well-draining cactus or succulent mix blended with coarse perlite or grit for extra drainage.

It prefers temperatures between 60 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit and tolerates light frost, staying outdoors through autumn without issue.

Sedum 'Red Carpet' spreads at a moderate pace and needs only a light balanced fertilizer once in spring.

It is hardy in USDA zones 4 through 9, tolerating winter lows down to around negative 30 degrees Fahrenheit. It grows outdoors year-round across Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana. It also grows in California, Arizona, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida, particularly in elevated or inland areas where summer heat eases seasonally.
  • Q: Is Red Carpet Sedum Succulent pet-friendly?
A: It is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How often should I water during winter months?
A: Red Carpet Sedum Succulent needs water much less frequently in winter. Water once per month or only when the soil has been completely dry for several days.

Q: Can Sedum 'Red Carpet' survive in low light?
A: It adapts to lower-light indoor spots but produces deeper red foliage and more compact growth in brighter conditions.

Q: How fast does it spread?
A: Sedum 'Red Carpet' grows at a moderate pace, covering ground or container space gradually rather than aggressively.

Q: How do I propagate Sedum 'Red Carpet'?
A: Snip a healthy stem, let it callous for a day or two, and press it into well-draining succulent soil where it roots readily.

    Q: Will it flower indoors?
A: Sedum 'Red Carpet' can produce star-shaped pink to magenta flower clusters indoors in bright light; cooler night temperatures further support blooming.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
