  •   Haworthia rubrobrunnea is a small succulent in the Asphodelaceae family, native to the rocky, arid regions of South Africa. It belongs to the Haworthia genus, a group of slow-growing rosette succulents adapted to survive in low-water, high-heat environments with minimal soil.

The leaves are thick and pointed, forming a tight rosette that typically stays under 4 inches wide. Under bright light, the foliage shifts from dark green to deep copper-burgundy, and the surface is covered in fine tubercles that give it a rough, textured feel. The rosette grows low and compact, with each leaf tapering to a sharp tip.

Flowering requires a drop in nighttime temperature to trigger the bloom cycle. When conditions are right, Haworthia Rubrobrunnea sends up a slender stem with small, tubular white flowers. Blooms are modest in size and carried on a tall, wiry inflorescence that extends well above the rosette.

You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it handles the dry heated air from indoor vents without leaf drop. Move it outside for summer, but keep it covered from rain and away from full south-facing sun, which scorches the leaves. It grows well under office LED lighting and releases oxygen at night. This plant is pet friendly, and the slow, compact growth keeps it well-suited to desks, shelves, and small indoor spaces.

  •   Haworthia rubrobrunnea grows well in bright indirect light and tolerates medium and office LED conditions easily.

Water it every 10 to 14 days in the growing season, letting soil dry completely between waterings.

Haworthia Rubrobrunnea does best in a fast-draining cactus or succulent mix amended with extra perlite.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and is sensitive to cold drafts from AC vents or heaters.

Haworthia Rubrobrunnea is a slow-growing succulent; feed it once in spring and once in summer with a diluted succulent fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 to 11, tolerating outdoor conditions down to around 25°F to 30°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and Nevada. It also grows outdoors in parts of Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, and New Mexico.
  • Q: Is Haworthia rubrobrunnea safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How do I know if I'm overwatering my plant?
A: Haworthia rubrobrunnea shows soft, mushy leaves at the base when overwatered. The roots rot quickly in waterlogged soil, so err toward underwatering.

Q: Can Haworthia Rubrobrunnea grow in an office with no natural light?
A: It grows under standard office LED and fluorescent lighting without trouble, though the foliage stays greener and less copper-toned in low light.

Q: What does the plant look like when it needs water?
A: Haworthia Rubrobrunnea wilts slightly and the leaves feel softer and less firm when dry. Check the top inch of soil as well.

Q: How big does Haworthia Rubrobrunnea get?
A: The rosette typically stays under 4 inches wide and grows slowly, adding only a small amount of size each year.

Q: Can I move my plant outdoors in summer?
A: Haworthia Rubrobrunnea handles outdoor summer conditions well in a shaded or partly shaded spot. Keep it covered from rain and out of direct south-facing sun exposure.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
