  •   Sedum 'Dragon's Blood', also called Dragon'S Blood Stonecrop, is a hardy low-growing succulent in the Crassulaceae family native to Europe and Asia. It naturally colonizes rocky slopes, dry meadows, and stony ground, growing in conditions that defeat most houseplants. It adapts well to both garden beds and containers.

The leaves are small and spoon-shaped, shifting from deep green to burgundy-red as temperatures cool, with a slightly fleshy, waxy texture that intensifies in color with sun exposure and seasonal stress. It forms a dense, upright mat that spreads readily, filling containers and garden edges with rosette clusters. The foliage stays jewel-toned year-round.

Sedum 'Dragon's Blood' produces star-shaped red to pink flowers in summer, typically from June through August, forming flat-topped clusters that attract pollinators. The blooms appear annually on healthy plants. It releases oxygen at night.

Move it outside in summer; it handles balcony wind and rain without trouble. You can leave it up to ten days without water. This sedum is pet-friendly, safe for cats and dogs. Whether you want a 2" starter for a rock garden or a 4" pot to anchor a container arrangement, it grows with minimal work.

  •   Dragon's Blood Sedum thrives in bright indirect light but tolerates both direct sun and low-light indoor conditions.

Water it every 10 to 14 days in summer, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings.

Sedum 'Dragon's Blood' grows well in a fast-draining succulent or cactus mix amended with extra perlite.

It handles temperatures from 90°F down to -40°F, tolerating frost and summer heat across a wide range.

Sedum 'Dragon's Blood' is a moderate to fast grower and wide spreader that benefits from a light balanced fertilizer once in spring.

It is hardy in USDA zones 3 through 8, tolerating frost well below 0°F. It grows outdoors across the northern tier including Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. It also grows well in the mid-Atlantic and upper South including Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Arkansas, plus the central plains of Oklahoma and northern parts of Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Utah. Gardeners in Zone 8 areas like northern Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi can grow it in seasonally cooler microclimates.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
