  •   Crassula Tomentosa, also called Woolly Crassula, is a rare collector plant from the Crassulaceae family, native to the rocky, arid hillsides of South Africa. It has adapted to grow in dry, nutrient-poor soils with dramatic temperature swings between day and night.

The leaves are densely covered in fine white hairs, giving the plant its signature woolly appearance and silvery-green tone. Spoon-shaped leaves form tight, symmetrical rosettes that cluster together as the plant matures. The leaves shift from grey-green to deeper tones depending on light levels and season.

Small, tubular flowers in creamy white to pale pink tones appear in late autumn to winter as nighttime temperatures drop. These blooms rise on slender stalks above the rosettes and carry a faint fragrance. Cooler nights are the key trigger for flowering.

It works well as a specimen in a terracotta pot or in a curated shelf display. Its compact rosette habit means it never outgrows a windowsill space. Move it outdoors for summer but cover it from rain and bring it back inside before frost arrives. Keep it on a high shelf well out of reach of cats, dogs, and small children, since it should not be nibbled or eaten.

  •   Crassula tomentosa - Woolly Crassula grows well in bright indirect light or partial sun, away from intense south-facing windows that cause scorching.

Water it every 10-14 days during the growing season and reduce to once a month in winter, letting the soil dry fully between waterings.

Crassula Tomentosa does best in a gritty, fast-draining mix of cactus soil blended with perlite or coarse sand at a 50/50 ratio.

It prefers temperatures between 50-80°F and should be protected from frost below 30°F.

Crassula Tomentosa is a moderate grower that benefits from a diluted balanced fertilizer applied once in spring and once in early summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, tolerating brief dips to around 25-30°F but performing best without hard frost. It grows outdoors year-round across California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. It also grows in milder coastal pockets of Oregon, Washington, and parts of North Carolina through most winters with minimal protection.
  • Q: How often should I water Crassula tomentosa - Woolly Crassula?
A: The growing season calls for watering every 10-14 days; watch the leaves for a slight softness that indicates the plant is drying out faster than expected.

Q: Is this fuzzy succulent safe for homes with pets?
A: Crassula tomentosa - Woolly Crassula is toxic to cats, dogs, and small children if ingested, so position it on a high shelf out of reach.

Q: What window direction works best for Crassula Tomentosa indoors?
A: A bright north or east-facing window works well. Rotate the pot regularly for even growth and keep it away from harsh direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the fuzzy leaves.

Q: Can I propagate this plant?
A: Crassula Tomentosa propagates most reliably from offsets that form at the base of the mother rosette, potted into dry, gritty soil. Leaf cuttings are also possible but root less consistently.

Q: Why are the leaves on Woolly Crassula turning yellow?
A: Yellowing leaves usually indicate prolonged soil wetness. Let the mix dry completely between waterings and make sure the pot drains freely.

Q: How much does this plant grow each year?
A: Woolly Crassula is a moderate grower with a naturally compact habit, adding roughly an inch or two in diameter per season.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
