  •   Crassula Tom Thumb Perforata is a rare miniature trailing succulent native to the rocky outcrops and dry slopes of South Africa. It belongs to the Crassulaceae family and evolved to store water efficiently in bright, low-humidity conditions. Collectors seek it out for its compact, sculptural form and geometric leaf arrangement.

Small fleshy leaves stack in pairs around the stem in a perforated pattern that gives the plant its name. The foliage is green with fine silver-white margins and a subtle red blush that deepens in bright light. Growth starts upright and naturally becomes trailing over time, filling a 2" or 4" pot beautifully or cascading from a hanging planter as it matures.

It clusters and sends out offsets as it ages, becoming more impressive with time. A nighttime temperature drop triggers blooming, which is why placing it near a cool window in autumn encourages flower buds to set.

This succulent grows well in terrariums, dish gardens, and windowsill collections and can adapt to office LED lighting when a bright window is unavailable. Move it outside in summer with rain protection to prevent root rot. You can leave it up to ten days without water. The sap can cause skin or paw irritation, so keep it on a high shelf away from cats, dogs, and small children. Stem cuttings are the easiest propagation method: snip a healthy stem, let it callous for a day or two, then place it in dry succulent mix and water lightly after a week.

  •   Crassula Tom Thumb Perforata grows well in bright indirect light, partial sun, or full sun, but may scorch in intense south-facing windows without acclimation.

Water it deeply every 10–14 days in summer and reduce to once every 3–4 weeks in winter, always letting soil dry fully between waterings.

Crassula Tom Thumb Perforata does best in a fast-draining cactus and succulent mix blended with 30–50% perlite or coarse grit for excellent drainage.

It prefers temperatures between 65–80°F and should be protected from frost below 25°F.

Crassula Tom Thumb Perforata is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from a diluted balanced succulent fertilizer applied once in spring and once in early summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9–11 and tolerates brief dips to around 25°F, performing best where winters stay mild. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, Hawaii, California, Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Nevada, and the milder coastal stretches of Oregon in a sheltered, rain-protected spot.
  • Q: How often should I water Crassula Tom Thumb Perforata?
A: Water deeply every 10–14 days during the growing season. In winter, reduce watering to once every 3–4 weeks. Always let the soil dry completely between waterings.

Q: Is it safe around pets?
A: Crassula Tom Thumb Perforata's sap can cause skin or paw irritation if chewed or ingested. Keep it on a high shelf well out of reach of cats, dogs, and small children.

Q: Which window direction works best for Crassula Tom Thumb Perforata?
A: Any bright window works, but intense south-facing sun can scorch leaves without gradual acclimation. East or west-facing windows offer reliable light without the risk.

Q: How do I propagate it?
A: Crassula Tom Thumb Perforata propagates easily from stem cuttings. Snip a healthy stem, let it callous for a day or two, place it in dry succulent mix, and water lightly after a week.

Q: Does Crassula Tom Thumb Perforata bloom?
A: Blooming occurs when nighttime temperatures drop, which typically happens naturally in autumn. A cool windowsill encourages flower buds to form during this season.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: Crassula Tom Thumb Perforata grows slowly to moderately and clusters over time, sending out offsets that fill the pot and create trailing stems as it matures.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
