Crassula Red Pagoda, also known as Crassula Shark Tooth, is a fascinating succulent with pointed triangular leaves that are densely packed like origami. With maximum sun exposure, the foliage can turn from dark green to striking light yellow with red tips. Edgy and unique, this succulent is a great addition to any planter or rock garden.

It can be grown as a small-scale groundcover, or on hanging basket due to its branching habit.

In summer, it produces small starry white flowers. Some specimens are redder than others. The more sun you give it, the redder it gets. ‘Red Pagoda’s’ color is brightest in winter in response to short, cool nights and bright sunlight.

Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch, then let drain completely. Avoid letting water sit for too long in the soil to prevent rot and fungal diseases. Reduce watering in the winter.

Well-Drained, Rich, Gritty. Optimal pH is around 6.0 (slightly acidic).

Average summer temperatures from 65ºF/18ºC to 70ºF/21ºC are ideal. In winter, it can survive temperatures as low as 50ºF/10ºC.

Feed once with a controlled-release fertilizer at the beginning of the growing season.

You can propagate Crassula Red Pagoda by division, offsets or leaf cuttings. The easiest way is to propagate from a single leaf: put the leaf in a succulent or cacti mix, then cover until it sprouts. This variety is easy to re-root from stem cuttings. Look to our tips on succulent propagation.

Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour off any excess water after a few minutes. The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.

this one is wonderful---the only thing i wish is that each one comes with a lil slip that tells how to care for it as it seems each one is different---as i look at them i do not even know which is which and what they are called. would love for them to come with a lil sign with the name of it on.

I have a hippie looking planter that I got from Temu. The plant one puts in it is supposed to grow out of the head like it's hair. Are there any succulents that look like hair? Or any other plants that you can think of.... Thanks

Hello Christy We have a few succulents that would make excellent "hair" for your hippie planter. Here are some great options: 1. String of Pearls (Senecio Rowleyanus) – This succulent has long, trailing stems with round "pearl-like" leaves that could give your planter a whimsical, flowing look. 2. String of Bananas – Similar to the String of Pearls but with slightly thicker, banana-shaped leaves, this one also works beautifully for a cascading "hair" effect. 3. String of Turtles: This plant has small, round leaves with intricate patterns that resemble turtle shells. When it trails down, it could create a unique and textured "hair" effect for your hippie planter. Feel free to check these out on our website! I purchased one of these from Succulents Box through Amazon.com. It arrived nicely enough and is growing. My problem is that it has between a half inch and an inch of stem between each set of leaves and all the pictures your site provides of it really doesn't show any stem, thereby giving it that nice look I really wanted. It gets approx. 10 hours of direct sunlight sitting in my office window. Sun crosses left to right every day and nothing blocks it other than clouds on occasion in Birmingham AL. What am I doing wrong to make the stem so long between each set of leaves? I would like to send a picture because as they say a picture is a 1000 words or something like that.
