  •   Crassula 'Picturata', also called Tiger Jade, is a rare succulent in the Crassulaceae family native to South Africa. This compact, drought-tolerant plant has adapted to rocky, arid conditions where intense sun and scarce water shape its growth and survival.

It forms an upright rosette of fleshy, pointed leaves marked with green and purple tones and spotted or speckled patterning. The leaves have a smooth, firm texture, and the tight, layered structure creates an almost sculptural form.

Small star-shaped flowers typical of the Crassula genus can appear, though blooming is infrequent and usually triggered by a drop in nighttime temperatures during cooler months. Rotating it regularly ensures the rosette develops evenly and maintains its symmetrical shape.

It stays compact and slow-growing, fitting naturally into small spaces, terrariums, bright windowsills, or mixed succulent arrangements. Move it outside for summer in a sheltered spot with no direct midday sun; always bring it back inside before temperatures drop and keep it protected from rain. Crassula 'Picturata' is toxic to cats and dogs and should be placed on a high shelf well out of their reach. You can propagate it from leaf or stem cuttings allowed to callous before being placed in dry, well-draining soil, though it roots slowly.

  •   Crassula Tiger Jade Picturata grows well in bright indirect light and may scorch if placed directly in a south-facing window.

Water it deeply every 10 to 14 days in summer, reducing to once a month in winter.

Crassula 'Picturata' does best in a well-draining cactus and perlite mix that prevents moisture from sitting around the roots.

It prefers temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees F and should be protected from frost.

Crassula 'Picturata' is a slow grower that needs no regular fertilizing, though a diluted succulent feed once in spring can help.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11, tolerating minimum temperatures down to around 25 to 30 degrees F before frost damage becomes a risk. It grows outdoors year-round across much of California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi. Coastal areas of Oregon, parts of New Mexico, and North Carolina's lower coastal plain also fall within suitable zones.
  • Q: How often should I water Crassula Tiger Jade Picturata?
A: Every 10 to 14 days during the growing season, letting the soil dry completely between waterings. Cut back to once a month in winter to avoid root rot.

Q: Is it safe around pets?
A: No. Crassula Tiger Jade Picturata is toxic to cats and dogs and should be kept on a high shelf well out of their reach.

Q: What window direction works best for Crassula 'Picturata'?
A: Bright indirect light from an east or west-facing window works well. Keep it away from intense afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: Crassula 'Picturata' grows slowly. Its compact size means it stays manageable and rarely needs pruning.

Q: Can Tiger Jade be propagated at home?
A: Yes. Leaf or stem cuttings callous for a few days, then place in dry, well-draining soil. Expect slow rooting since this succulent takes time to establish.

Q: Can it survive outdoors year-round?
A: Tiger Jade grows outdoors in USDA zones 9 through 11, which includes southern California, Arizona, Florida, Texas, and Hawaii. Elsewhere, bring it indoors before the first frost.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
