  •   Crassula Ovata Obliqua Jade Plant is a succulent from the Crassulaceae family, native to the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal provinces of South Africa. It grows naturally in rocky, semi-arid landscapes where rainfall is seasonal and soils drain quickly, and it's passed down through generations as a money plant and friendship tree symbol of good luck.

It forms an upright, clustering habit with thick woody stems that resemble a miniature tree over time. The leaves are fleshy, oval, and glossy green, often developing reddish or purplish margins when exposed to bright light or cooler night temperatures. It grows in a compact branching structure that stands apart from other jade plant varieties.

Under the right conditions, it produces clusters of small star-shaped flowers in pale pink to white, typically appearing in late autumn or winter. Cooler night temperatures trigger blooming, so allowing nighttime drops naturally encourages flowers.

You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer to a bright, sheltered spot and bring it indoors before frost arrives. Crassula Obliqua is toxic to cats and dogs, so keep it on a high shelf or out of reach, as its sap causes skin and paw irritation on contact.

  •   Crassula Ovata Obliqua Jade Plant grows well in bright indirect light and can grow steadily under office LED lighting.

Water it deeply every 2-3 weeks in summer, then reduce to once a month or less in winter, letting soil dry completely between waterings.

Crassula Obliqua does best in a well-draining cactus and succulent mix blended with extra perlite for fast drainage and root health.

It prefers temperatures between 65-75°F and should be protected from frost, as it cannot survive prolonged freezes below 25°F.

Crassula Obliqua is a slow to moderate grower and benefits from diluted balanced fertilizer applied once in spring and once in summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10-11, tolerating minimum temperatures down to 30-35°F before cold damage becomes a risk. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Hawaii, Florida, Texas, Arizona, and Louisiana. Parts of Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Nevada, and coastal Oregon also fall within or near these zones.
  • Q: How often should I water Crassula Ovata Obliqua Jade Plant?
A: Water every 2-3 weeks during the growing season and cut back to monthly or less in winter. Leaves will wrinkle or wilt slightly when genuinely thirsty.

Q: Is it safe to keep around cats and dogs?
A: Crassula Ovata Obliqua Jade Plant is not safe for pets. Its sap causes skin and paw irritation, so keep it on a high shelf out of reach.

Q: What window direction works best for Crassula Obliqua indoors?
A: A bright window facing east or west works well. Avoid prolonged direct south-facing sun, which can scorch the leaves.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: Crassula Obliqua gains a few inches per year under good conditions. Regular light fertilizing in spring and summer supports steady growth.

Q: Can you propagate Crassula Obliqua from cuttings?
A: Yes, it propagates readily from stem or leaf cuttings placed in dry, well-draining soil. Let cut ends callous for a day or two before planting to reduce rot risk.

Q: Can this plant survive outdoors in a cold climate?
A: Crassula Obliqua cannot survive prolonged freezes below 25°F, so outdoor year-round growing only works in warm zones. Bring it indoors before temperatures drop near freezing in autumn.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
