  •   Crassula Campfire Plant is a drought-tolerant succulent from the Crassulaceae family, native to South Africa's rocky hillsides and dry scrublands. It has a following among collectors and beginners alike for its dramatic foliage color shifts and straightforward care needs.

The plant's signature trait is its propeller-like leaves stacked tightly in cascading rows along each stem, forming a clumping and trailing rosette that spills over pot edges. Foliage emerges lime green, then transforms into yellow, orange, and fiery red as sun exposure increases, with leaves smooth and slightly waxy throughout. Campfire's layered, flame-like silhouette comes from tightly overlapping leaves that sit perfectly flat against one another.

Small clusters of white to pale pink star-shaped flowers appear in late winter to spring when nighttime temperatures drop consistently. Cooler nights trigger flowering, so ensure it experiences that temperature dip to encourage blooms.

Position Campfire on a sunny windowsill indoors or move it to a bright patio in summer, bringing it inside before frost arrives and shielding it from heavy rain during outdoor stints. Its trailing growth makes it a natural choice for hanging planters or cascading over the edge of a dish garden. Keep it on a high shelf away from cats, dogs, and small children, as the sap causes skin or paw irritation. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

  •   Crassula Campfire Plant grows well in bright direct sun, with a south- or east-facing window working well indoors and bringing out the most vivid reds and oranges.

Water it deeply every 10 to 14 days in summer, reducing to once every 3 to 4 weeks in winter when growth slows.

Campfire does best in a gritty, well-draining succulent or cactus mix blended with 30 to 50 percent perlite.

It prefers temperatures between 65 and 80°F and should be protected from frost below 32°F.

Campfire is a moderate grower that benefits from diluted balanced fertilizer applied once in spring and once in early summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11, tolerating brief dips to around 25 to 30°F but performing best where frosts are rare or absent. It grows outdoors year-round across California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. Coastal regions of Oregon, the warmer pockets of New Mexico, and sheltered spots across Arkansas and North Carolina can also support it through mild winters with minimal protection.
  • Q: How much light does Crassula Campfire Plant need?
A: Full direct sun brings out the most vivid reds and oranges. A south- or east-facing window indoors works well.

Q: When should I water, and what does thirst look like?
A: Crassula Campfire Plant leaves soften and lose firmness when the soil dries completely. Insert your finger an inch into the soil before watering; water only if it feels completely dry.

Q: Is Campfire safe for pets?
A: Cats and dogs shouldn't eat it, and the sap causes skin or paw irritation on contact. Keep it on a high shelf out of reach.

Q: How do I get the color shift from green to red?
A: Campfire develops its fiery hues with more direct sun and cooler nighttime temperatures. Moving it to a brighter spot or outdoors in summer brings out those vivid colors fastest.

Q: Can Campfire be propagated easily?
A: Take a healthy stem cutting, let it callous for a day or two, then place it in dry succulent mix and water lightly once roots appear. Stem cuttings root faster and more reliably than leaf cuttings.

Q: Can it survive outdoors year-round?
A: Campfire grows outdoors in USDA zones 9 to 11. Bring it inside before frost in colder regions, or shield it if winter temperatures dip below 32°F.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
