  •   Aloe Brevifolia Short-leaved Aloe is a compact, drought-tolerant succulent native to the rocky terrain of South Africa's Western Cape region. It belongs to the Aloe genus within the Asphodelaceae family and serves as a rare, architectural addition to any indoor shelf or outdoor garden.

It forms tight rosettes of short, triangular leaves in forest-green to blue-green tones, each leaf edged with pale, tooth-like serrations. The upright growth habit and dense structure create a sculptural silhouette that offsets steadily into clustering colonies over time. Short-leaved Aloe reaches about 4 inches in height when mature.

In late spring to early summer, it produces tall, upright flower spikes bearing tubular orange-red blooms, triggered by nighttime temperature drops. It also functions as an air-purifying plant, filtering indoor air while growing in dry conditions that challenge most houseplants.

Rotate it periodically for symmetrical growth and keep it away from air conditioning vents and heating drafts. Move it outside in summer to a sheltered, bright spot, but ensure it stays covered from heavy rain. Store it on a high shelf away from curious pets and children, as cats and dogs should not nibble the sap.

  •   Aloe Brevifolia Short-leaved Aloe grows well in bright indirect light and may scorch in harsh, unfiltered south-facing windows.

Water it every 2–3 weeks during warm months and once monthly in winter, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings.

Short-leaved Aloe does best in a fast-draining cactus and succulent mix combined with extra perlite for optimal drainage.

It prefers temperatures between 50–80°F and is not frost-tolerant below 25°F.

Short-leaved Aloe is a slow grower needing only light balanced succulent fertilizer once in spring and once in early summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9–11 and tolerates brief dips to around 25°F. It grows outdoors year-round across California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Nevada. Coastal areas of Oregon and Washington within zone 9 microclimates also support this plant, though a frost cloth on cold nights is recommended.
  • Q: How often should I water Aloe Brevifolia Short-leaved Aloe?
A: Every 2–3 weeks in warm months and once monthly in winter, letting the soil dry fully between waterings. Overwatering causes far more damage than underwatering, so err on the side of drier soil.

Q: Is it safe around pets?
A: Aloe Brevifolia Short-leaved Aloe should be kept on a high shelf away from cats and dogs, as the sap can cause skin and paw irritation if nibbled.

Q: How much light does Short-leaved Aloe need?
A: Bright indirect light and some direct morning sun work best. Keep it away from intense afternoon sun through south-facing windows, which can scorch the leaves.

Q: How do I propagate it?
A: Short-leaved Aloe readily produces offsets, or pups, around the base that you can gently separate and pot individually. Allow the cut end to callous for a day or two before planting in dry succulent mix.

Q: Why are the leaves on Short-leaved Aloe turning yellow?
A: Yellow leaves result from overwatering or poor drainage stressing the roots. Reduce watering frequency, confirm the pot has drainage holes, and allow soil to dry completely between waterings.

Q: Can I move it outside for summer?
A: Short-leaved Aloe loves outdoor summers in a bright, sheltered spot. Introduce it gradually to outdoor conditions to avoid shock, provide cover from heavy rain, and bring it back inside before autumn temperatures drop.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
