  •   Aeonium Mardi Gras Rosettes is a rare tricolor succulent from the Aeonium genus, native to the Canary Islands and Mediterranean regions where mild, seasonally dry climates support its growth.

It forms upright rosettes with smooth, spoon-shaped leaves layered in creamy yellow, green, and deep rose-pink that intensify with bright light exposure. The foliage spirals outward in symmetrical layers, creating compact rosettes with bold geometric presence. Each leaf has a slightly waxy texture that catches light.

Aeonium Mardi Gras requires cool nighttime temperatures to trigger blooming, so plants moved outdoors in autumn often flower more readily than those kept indoors year-round. The tricolor foliage shifts subtly with light intensity throughout the year.

It handles dry indoor air without stress, making it suitable for living rooms and bright shelves where the rosette's upright growth shows from any angle. Move it outside in summer to a sheltered spot with indirect or filtered light, then bring it back inside before frost arrives. The sap can irritate skin and may pose a risk if ingested by pets or toddlers, so keep it elevated and out of reach. You can leave it up to ten days without water. It propagates easily from stem cuttings taken in spring.

  •   Aeonium Mardi Gras Rosettes grows well in bright indirect light and scorches easily in harsh direct afternoon sun from south-facing windows.

Water it every 10 to 14 days during spring and summer, pulling back to once a month in winter dormancy.

Aeonium Mardi Gras does best in fast-draining soil, ideally a quality cactus and succulent mix blended with perlite at roughly a 2:1 ratio.

It prefers temperatures between 65 and 80°F and should be brought indoors before frost threatens in fall and winter.

Aeonium Mardi Gras is a moderate grower that benefits from diluted balanced fertilizer applied once monthly during the active spring growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11, tolerating brief dips to around 25 to 28°F before frost damage sets in. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi. Coastal regions of Oregon, Washington, and parts of North Carolina also support this rare tricolor succulent through mild winters.
  • Q: How much light does Aeonium Mardi Gras Rosettes need indoors?
A: Rotate it regularly for even, balanced growth, and avoid direct south-facing windows where leaf scorch and color fading occur quickly.

Q: Is it safe around pets and children?
A: Aeonium Mardi Gras Rosettes can irritate skin on contact and poses a risk if ingested, so keep it on a high shelf well out of reach of cats, dogs, and toddlers.

Q: Can Aeonium Mardi Gras be propagated easily?
A: Take stem cuttings in spring, let the cut end callous for a day or two, then plant in dry succulent mix for strong root development.

Q: What happens if it gets too much direct sun?
A: Aeonium Mardi Gras can scorch and the tricolor variegation fades, so filtered light or bright indirect conditions work best.

Q: Does Aeonium Mardi Gras need special care in summer?
A: Move it to a bright, sheltered outdoor spot with indirect or filtered light and return it indoors before nighttime temperatures drop near frost.

Q: How long can it survive without water?
A: Aeonium Mardi Gras tolerates extended dry periods between waterings, which makes it a practical choice when you are away from home for a week or more.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
