  •   Gasteria Flow Spiky Aloe is a drought-tolerant succulent from the Gasteria genus, native to the rocky, arid regions of South Africa. A natural hybrid in the Asphodelaceae family, it has been selected for its bold architectural form and ease of care.

The plant forms a dense, clumping rosette of thick, dark green leaves edged with spiky tips. Each leaf is tongue-shaped and textured with pale white spotting across the surface, giving the rosette a sculptural quality. The dark green foliage and contrasting white markings are distinctive on any desk, shelf, or windowsill.

It produces slender, arching flower spikes topped with tubular blooms in coral to reddish-orange hues, typically appearing in late winter through spring when the plant experiences a nighttime temperature drop. The blossoms are not fragrant but add color that contrasts against the dark, spotted foliage. Providing that cool night shift encourages flowering each season.

Move it outside in summer to a sheltered spot with bright indirect or partial sun, but provide cover from heavy rain to prevent root rot. You can leave it up to ten days without water. The clumping habit naturally produces offsets, or pups, around the base that can be gently separated and potted once they develop a few leaves of their own. Rotate it every few weeks for an even, symmetrical rosette, and keep it away from air conditioning vents or heating units that blast direct dry air. It is pet-friendly and safe for homes with cats and dogs.

  •   Gasteria Flow Spiky Aloe grows well in medium light or bright indirect light, and scorches easily if placed in a south-facing window with direct afternoon sun.

Water it deeply every 10 to 14 days in summer, reducing to once every 3 to 4 weeks in winter when growth slows.

Gasteria Flow does best in a well-draining cactus and succulent mix blended with perlite for excellent aeration and moisture control.

It prefers temperatures between 50 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit and should be brought indoors before frost threatens in autumn.

Gasteria Flow is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from a light, diluted succulent fertilizer applied once in spring and once in early summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11, tolerating brief dips down to around 25 degrees Fahrenheit before cold damage sets in. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Nevada. Coastal pockets of Oregon, the warmer corners of New Mexico, and parts of North Carolina also fall within the suitable range.
  • Q: Is Gasteria Flow Spiky Aloe pet-friendly?
A: It is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs, so you can display it freely in a pet-friendly home.

Q: What window placement works best for this succulent?
A: Gasteria Flow Spiky Aloe does best in a north or east-facing windowsill with bright indirect light; direct afternoon sun will scorch the leaves.

Q: How often should Gasteria Flow be watered in winter?
A: Scale back to once every 3 to 4 weeks and let the soil dry out completely between waterings.

Q: What triggers blooming in this plant?
A: Gasteria Flow needs a consistent drop in nighttime temperatures during autumn and winter; keeping it in a cooler room overnight encourages those coral flower spikes.

Q: Can Gasteria Flow survive extended time without water?
A: It can handle up to ten days without water, making it practical for short trips or if you forget to water on schedule.

    Q: How is propagation done?
A: Gasteria Flow naturally produces offsets at the base that can be gently separated and potted once they have a few leaves of their own.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
