  •   Sempervivum Colorockz 'Lemon Flare' is a cold hardy succulent in the Crassulaceae family, bred for bold color and exceptional outdoor toughness. Native to the mountains of Europe and western Asia, sempervivums grow well in rocky, well-drained soils and endure harsh alpine conditions. 'Lemon Flare' brings that same rugged resilience to gardens, containers, and rock gardens worldwide.

'Lemon Flare' forms tight, geometric rosettes in lemon yellow with warm chartreuse tones that intensify in full sun. The leaves are fleshy, pointed, and neatly layered, creating the classic succulent architecture. Each mother rosette steadily produces offsets, spreading into a dense mat over time.

Like most hens and chicks succulents, 'Lemon Flare' is monocarpic, meaning each individual rosette blooms once before making way for its offsets to carry on. The year-round rosette color shifts and deepens with the seasons.

'Lemon Flare' works in rock gardens, alpine troughs, gravel beds, and sunny container arrangements, growing well equally on a breezy balcony or in an open garden border. Move it outside for summer or keep it outdoors through autumn with ease. It is cold hardy and pet friendly, non-toxic to cats and dogs. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

  •   Sempervivum Colorockz 'Lemon Flare' grows well in full sun to partial sun, needing at least four hours of direct sun daily for best color.

Water it deeply but infrequently, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings, roughly every 10-14 days indoors or after rainfall outdoors.

'Lemon Flare' does best in a gritty, fast-draining mix such as cactus and succulent soil blended with 30-50% coarse perlite or grit.

It tolerates a wide range from around 100°F down to well below freezing, and is frost tolerant through hard winters.

'Lemon Flare' is a slow to moderate grower that rarely needs fertilizer, though a light, diluted succulent feed in spring encourages offset production.

It is hardy in USDA zones 3-8, tolerating frost down to approximately 40°F below zero. It grows outdoors across the northern and central United States, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and beyond. It grows outdoors in the Pacific Northwest states of Washington and Oregon, as well as Idaho, Utah, Nevada's higher elevations, and parts of northern California, Arizona, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and New Mexico within these zones.
  • Q: How much sun does Sempervivum Colorockz 'Lemon Flare' need?
A: At least four to six hours of direct light daily produces the most vivid lemon yellow color. Partial sun is tolerated, but deeper tones develop in full sun.

Q: Is it safe around pets?
A: Sempervivum Colorockz 'Lemon Flare' is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How does 'Lemon Flare' spread and propagate?
A: It naturally spreads by producing small offsets, or chicks, around the base of the mother rosette. Detach a rooted offset and replant it in well-draining soil for propagation.

Q: How cold hardy is 'Lemon Flare'?
A: It survives temperatures as low as 40°F below zero and is rated for USDA zones 3-8.

Q: How big does 'Lemon Flare' get?
A: Individual rosettes typically reach 2-4 inches across, while the clustering habit gradually forms a spreading mat that can cover a foot or more over several seasons.

Q: What happens if I overwater?
A: 'Lemon Flare' is far more forgiving of underwatering than overwatering. Excess moisture causes root rot.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
