    •   Schlumbergera truncata, also called Thanksgiving Cactus, is an epiphytic cactus native to the tropical forests of Brazil, where it grows naturally on tree branches in filtered light. Unlike desert cacti, it grows well in humid environments and has become a houseplant for its winter blooming season. It brings seasonal color when most plants are dormant and is pet-friendly for cat and dog owners.

        The plant features distinctive flat, segmented stems with pronounced crab-like teeth along the edges. Its trailing succulent growth creates cascading segments that reach 12-24 inches long, making it ideal for hanging basket displays. The glossy, fleshy segments are bright green and completely spineless, with each segment connecting seamlessly to create arching branches.

        Schlumbergera truncata produces tubular blooms in shades of pink, red, white, or purple from late fall through early winter. The flowers emerge from the tips of the stem segments, lasting several weeks when conditions are right.
