  •   Miami Haworthia (Haworthia limifolia var. striata), also called the fairy washboard succulent, is a rare collector succulent native to rocky, shaded hillsides in southern Africa. It belongs to the Asphodelaceae family and has earned a devoted following among plant enthusiasts worldwide for its sculptural texture and straightforward care requirements.

Haworthia Striata forms tight, symmetrical rosettes of firm, triangular dark green leaves etched with bold, raised horizontal ridges that run across each leaf like a washboard. Each rosette typically reaches 3 to 5 inches in diameter, and the clumping growth habit means one plant gradually develops into a cluster of rosettes over time.

It occasionally sends up a slender, wiry flower spike bearing small, tubular whitish blooms in warmer months, though the flowers are modest rather than showy. Haworthia Striata is non-toxic and safe for both cats and dogs, making it a pet-friendly compact rosette succulent for any household.

It grows well under office LED lighting and purifies indoor air, fitting easily on shelves, desks, and windowsills or inside a terrarium. You can leave it up to ten days without water. It separates easily at the base, producing offsets or pups that can be propagated into new plants once they develop roots. Move it outside in summer with protection from rain, and rotate it regularly so every side develops evenly.

  •   Miami Haworthia (Haworthia limifolia var. striata) grows well in medium to bright indirect light and adapts to low light conditions, including office LED lighting.

Water it every 2 to 3 weeks during spring and summer, reducing to once a month or less in winter.

Haworthia Striata does best in fast-draining cactus or succulent mix blended with 20 to 30 percent perlite for excellent drainage.

It prefers temperatures between 60 and 85°F and should be kept away from air conditioning vents and heaters.

Haworthia Striata is a slow to moderate grower needing only balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength, applied once in spring and once in summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 to 11, tolerating brief dips to around 25°F but preferring frost-free conditions year-round. It grows outdoors in Florida, California, Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, and South Carolina, and it grows well in warmer pockets of Nevada, Alabama, Mississippi, coastal Oregon, and parts of New Mexico.

A: It is a slow to moderate grower, typically reaching 3 to 5 inches per rosette while gradually forming a cluster over several years.

Q: Can you propagate this plant?

Q: How much space does Haworthia Striata need indoors?
A: It stays compact, fitting easily on shelves, desks, and windowsills, and works well in terrariums because of its minimal vertical space requirements.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
