  •   Echeveria Compressicaulis is a rare upright rosette succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to Mexico where it grows on rocky, well-drained hillsides in bright sun and seasonal dry spells. It has a devoted following among collectors for its sculptural compressed stem form and surprisingly simple care requirements.

The plant forms an upright rosette with thick, fleshy leaves that fan outward in a tightly compressed arrangement, creating its distinctive flattened stem structure. Leaves range from soft blue-green to gray with gently pointed tips, and the clustering growth habit means it can develop into a layered specimen over time.

Echeveria Compressicaulis produces slender arching flower stalks with small, coral-to-orange bell-shaped blooms, typically appearing in late spring to summer. A cool night temperature drop triggers blooming, so positioning it near a cooler window in the evening supports flowering when the season arrives.

You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer to a bright, sheltered spot, and group it with other upright rosette succulents for layered displays. It is pet friendly and non-toxic to cats and dogs. Rosettes typically reach 3–5 inches across and cluster gradually, making them suitable for small pots and shelf arrangements.

  •   Echeveria Compressicaulis grows well in bright indirect light to full direct sun, ideally near an east or west-facing window.

Water it every 10–14 days in summer, pulling back to once every 3–4 weeks in winter.

Echeveria Compressicaulis does best in a gritty, fast-draining cactus and perlite mix at roughly a 50/50 ratio.

It prefers temperatures between 65–85°F and should be protected from frost below 25°F.

Echeveria Compressicaulis is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from diluted balanced fertilizer once monthly in spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9–11, tolerating brief dips to around 25°F before needing frost protection. It grows outdoors year-round across California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi, and along the Oregon and Washington coasts. Zone 8 areas including North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, New Mexico, and parts of Virginia can support it outdoors through the warmer months with light winter cover.
  • Q: How often should I water Echeveria Compressicaulis?
A: Every 10–14 days during the growing season, letting the soil dry out completely between waterings. In winter, reduce to once every 3–4 weeks.

Q: Is it safe for cats and dogs?
A: Echeveria Compressicaulis is non-toxic and pet friendly.

Q: What light does Echeveria Compressicaulis need indoors?
A: Bright indirect to partial direct sun near a south or west-facing window works best. Rotate it regularly for even rosette growth. Avoid placing it directly against a hot south-facing window pane where leaves can scorch.

Q: How large does it get?
A: Echeveria Compressicaulis typically forms rosettes 3–5 inches across and clusters gradually over time, staying compact enough for small pots and shelf displays.

Q: Can Echeveria Compressicaulis be propagated?
A: Offsets form around the base of mature plants. Separate a healthy offset, let the base callous for a day or two, then pot it in dry gritty soil.

Q: Can it survive outdoors year-round?
A: Echeveria Compressicaulis grows outdoors in zones 9–11 and survives brief freezes to around 25°F, though it needs frost protection below that temperature. In zone 8 areas, move it indoors before winter frost arrives.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
