Calathea Vittata is an elegant, herbaceous evergreen perennial, sometimes referred to as the Pinstripe Calathea or a type of "Prayer Plant" due to its rhythmic leaf movement. This plant is native to the tropical rainforests of South America, specifically Brazil, where it thrives in the warm, humid understory beneath the dense tree canopy.
Its most captivating feature is its beautiful, elongated, light green leaves adorned with multiple delicate, crisp white stripes that look as if they've been painted with a fine brush. The underside of the leaves is often a softer green or a pale, harmonious shade.
Like other plants in the Calathea family, the Calathea Vittata exhibits nyctinasty, a movement where its leaves fold up slightly at night (like hands in prayer) and then "bloom" or open back up in the morning to greet the light.
