  •   String Of Hearts Ceropegia woodii, also called rosary vine or sweetheart vine, is a trailing succulent native to South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Swaziland. It grows naturally on rocky hillsides and cliffs, developing long cascading stems lined with heart-shaped foliage.

The leaves are small and heart-shaped, deep green with silver marbling on the upper surface and soft purple-pink underneath. Slender purple stems trail naturally, with tiny tuber-like nodes spaced along the length that serve as natural propagation points.

Small tubular flowers bloom in pale pink to magenta during late summer and into autumn. A slight drop in nighttime temperatures can trigger more blooms. This plant is pet friendly and safe for cats and dogs.

You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer, though it needs cover from rain since waterlogged soil causes root rot. Rotate it regularly for even, balanced growth, and keep it away from direct air blasts from AC or heaters. It wilts when it needs water.

  •   String Of Hearts Ceropegia woodii grows well in bright indirect light or partial sun and scorches in harsh south-facing windows.

Water it every 10-14 days during summer and cut back to once every 3-4 weeks in winter, letting soil dry between waterings.

String Of Hearts does best in a fast-draining cactus or succulent mix blended with extra perlite.

It prefers temperatures between 60-80°F and should stay above 50°F at all times.

String Of Hearts is an active trailing grower that benefits from balanced liquid fertilizer applied monthly during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10-11, where temperatures stay above 30-35°F year-round. Gardeners in Hawaii, southern Florida, and the warmest coastal areas of southern California can grow it outdoors year-round. In Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Nevada, and along the mild Oregon and California coasts, move it indoors before frost arrives.
  • Q: How often should I water String Of Hearts Ceropegia woodii?
A: Every 10-14 days in summer, then reduce to once every 3-4 weeks in winter. Let the soil dry out between waterings.

Q: Is this plant safe around cats and dogs?
A: Yes. String Of Hearts Ceropegia woodii is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How do I propagate String Of Hearts?
A: Lay stem cuttings or the small tuber nodes directly onto moist soil, where they root in a few weeks. You can also propagate in water before transferring to soil.

Q: Why are the leaves turning yellow?
A: Yellow leaves signal overwatering or poorly draining soil. String Of Hearts needs the soil to dry fully between waterings and a pot with drainage holes.

Q: Can String Of Hearts survive a ten-day trip without watering?
A: Yes, as long as you water it thoroughly before you leave. The tuber-like nodes along the stems store water and sustain the plant during brief dry periods.

Q: How much light does this plant need?
A: String Of Hearts does best in bright indirect light or partial sun. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun, which scorches the leaves.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
